Television Dexter

I just finished the series. The last two episodes save the series, combined with the superb cast, but is was slow to get going and by far the worst series of Dexter so far. Great but much poorer than previous series.

Just gotten into it, spent the last week watching watching season 1&2 on netflix, unfortunately the rest are not available on "watch instantly", I'll have to get the discs.... is season 3 any good? 1 was good 2 was very good.....

Season 3 is widely regarded as being the worst, it's still pretty great television though. Well worth it for the following season.

I can never put my finger on why I thought Season 3 wasn't as good.

I'm showing my girlfriend Dexter at the moment, she just started Season 3 and I've noticed a few things in the first 3 episodes.

Namely that random woman trying to get info on Quinn from Debra, she annoys me immensely. The whole introduction of Quinn felt forced too.

Decided to go back in time and watch from the start again....

Hated the way Sgt. Doakes was dealt with the 1st time I watched this, and it still pisses me off

:(

Im still not over it
:( agreed.

Just finished season 5, not so good.

spent the last half hour expecting something to whet the appetitie for season 6. Debra letting them go was a brilliant scene, but I didn't like how the whop season focused on just one group of villains.

Season 4 focused on a single villian though. It was just a far superior villian.

Season 5 was rubbish, I stand by that!

Tbh it'd been a while since I'd watched season 4, so i'd forgotten that.
on an unrelated note, a quote from the exec producer, alluding to a future plot direction, pretty big spoiler imo:
eventually, some season is going to have to deal with Deb finding out about Dexter.
So we know she will find out at some point, no nice happy ending keeping it all hidden?

well they should've done it this season, I was really hoping they'd do it at the end in that scene, but they bottled it and now the show is back where it was at the start of season 5.

There shouldn't be more than one more season of the show anyway, else they'll ruin it

Also:

agreed, maybe I'm missing subtleties of character development, but season 5 was a bit too self contained for me, as you say, we're back to where we started

the only in any way important plot development was Deb killing someone.

I don't give 2 shits about Quinn or la Guerta, and Angel is the same as always only married to that twat.

the more I think about that season the more it pisses me off.

Have they announced season 6?

They should have had Debra find out about Dexter or at least find out that Lumen was involved and then she could have spent season 6 closing in on Dexter.

Also don't know what they're going to do with the Dexter-Quinn, are they 'friends' now or does he still suspect Dexter?

They were never going to be able to top Season 4 in Season 5.

Season 6 though - maybe with Dexter killing Deb?

I hope this does not happen, even though I would not say she is particularly attractive in a classic way and a bit too skinny for my taste, there is something oddly salacious about her and I like her attitude

it's the combination of her tomboyishness and potty mouth that does it for me.

Can they do me a favour and shoot Quinn in the face in the first minute of the next season. Seriously, feck that character.
