Gaming Destiny | Rise of Iron launch

That weekly strike is a pain in the backside. Its not even the Nexus that's difficult, it's the other spawning robots that catch you out when your not looking.

Me and Monkey_Plunkett nearly had it finished aswell. Those no automatic respawns are an absolute killer when it's only 2 of you.
I managed to do it alone but only because of my machine gun!

It's times like this on the harder strikes I realise that those auto replenish heavy ammo you can buy are a god send and I should really buy some! You can take down the boss with a couple of clips but yeah those Goblins are a ball ache!

Just did the Queens one on my own and was lucky to get Earth first time. Got a Helmet out of it.

You completed the weekly on your own? 2 questions; Why? What lvl are you?

Feck, I've got an Exotic Machine gun and even using that with two of us is brutal, I wasnt getting too many purple ammo drops though if it was consatanly getting ammo it would be a big help.

I did the queens mission on earth a few times last night, got a Helmet and some chest armour, levelled me up nicely.

Can someone post a link or explain how many motes of light and strange coins I need to buy gear?

Just gave me an idea, think I'm going to rinse and repeat that queens mission (earth) and breakdown the armour I get for shards...

I tried it last night and got destroyed.

Got a new Fusion rifle that one shots the minotaurs leaving me heavy ammo for the boss. Strangely I didn't actually die in the room with the boss I died 4 or 5 times leading up to the room though.

Level 24. I don't actually have an idea how good I am though because I have nothing to measure against. Got nobody on my XB1 contact list!

I'm using:

Primary: Painted Suros CGB-47 (Rare AR) 230 Attack
Secondary: Hellios FR5 (Rare Fusion) 242 Attack
Heavy: Hannibal-E (Rare Machine Gun) 242 Attack

Defence is 896

I've been on for an hour, can't connect to a single crucible match and haven't seen anyone on Patrol. XBL is fine though. Pain in the ass!

You do mean you completed the actual weekly challenge, not just the nexus strike?.

I'm not saying I don't believe you, but you must have serious skills if you can do that at level 24 by yourself. I have basically the same weapons and more armour and 2 of us had no chance.

Fcuk that, 3 of us as me @Randall Flagg & @ArmandTamzarian tried last night too... He's Neo from the matrix I swear it...

Me, Damien and Brownie managed it last night quite easily, trick is not to drop into the cave. Me and Brownie took care of the boss and surrounding minotaurs whilst Damien took care of the upper level minotaur which spawned in behind us.

Ok fair enough, but he did it on his own... We got close fwiw, we just kept dying right near the end when loads of bots spawn while the Nexus is on a sliver of health.

I'd love to see a video (you should have saved it @Ady87), I'm visualising all sorts of bullet-time and crazy skills... but in reality it's probably like the way I killed a crazy hard boss by getting walloped off the edge into some kind of glitchy area I couldn't be killed in, so proceeded to whittle down it's health from complete safety.

How did that work? Who would revive damo if he died

Cos that exact thing happened to me on one of my goes

Ok, so if the guy down the bottom dies... someone has to jump in after him? That guy at the bottom better not die then... I'm not sure it's as easy as it seems. What did you use? Scout & Sniper Rifles?

I entertained the thought when we were hanging around up top, but I didn't think it would trigger until we all went down...

We were all at the top, after a while of me and Brownie shooting the minotaurs the ghost speaks to say something is opening and the boss arrives. No-one needs to be at the bottom at all, we jumped down after the end to collect the engrams and such.

No all 3 of us stay at the top. One of us kill anything that comes from behind and the other 2 take out the boss and other bad guys

I tried it last night as well but I was the only one on the top level, so when I died nobody could revive me

Okay guys sounds like there could be a mix up if you guys had trouble at your levels!

I'm talking about the weekly strike in Orbit on the left at the bottom? The one where you go down a slope with loads of spawning Goblins before dropping down into a cave with about 6 Minotaurs then that big fecker with the rotating shield?

Just done the daily today with the big heart and the 3 Giant Minotaurs which wasn't too bad, got no rewards though. Never seem to get them from Vanguard missions only playing Crucible.

on now, if any one feels up to doing the queens mission at all?
What's your PSN?

Just realised another part of the tower has opened up, the top part behind the bounty handler. Has a few things you get from the queen bountjes if your high enough level with her.

You can solo the weekly, but you obviously need to be taking advantage of the solar buff. I had a quick go but my solar weapons are pants. Once the real fight starts and you have both the boss and the minotaurs, I died both tries. I probably just didnt find a good enough area to lay into the boss

Yeah, that's what we are talking about.

I am completely baffled, perhaps it is easier just attempting it by yourself? I must admit I never tried as I thought it would be too difficult. I am sure though some missions have difficulty multiplier's with more people involved.

Perhaps I Will try it myself then later

sweet I cant wait to get home now

Damn this game and its addictivness

Not sure what to say.

The ramped areas have a gap in between columns where you can unload in to the boss and take little or no damage. Then when the minions spawn I just special one side and grenade the other whilst going hell for leather then get back to giving it the boss. Still think I might be on about something different lol

Nah Ady what you're describing is exactly the setup I had when I solod it too. I was trying to use my super for Defender bubble and getting the weapons of light buff before attacking the boss, I was hoping I'd be able to chunk him down before any adds had anything to say about the fight. But his life didnt go down anywhere near as quickly as I hoped

People have solod the nightfall version as well, apparently. And completed the vault of glass in under an hour

What I imagine the solo experience (on a hard mission/strike) to be like seems like something I'd like to avoid if possible... unless you're Ady... maybe it scales down? Or maybe it doesn't.... mysteries...

I'm waiting for @Ady87 to come back and tell us how he solo'd the raid in 45 minutes, whilst watching TV... from now on, you're on my team.

I gave it 2 attempts and then my ps4 was delivered so I was happy to quit :D

And while my gear is very good, that doesnt mean I can solo everything other people can. I'm not too used to shooters and sometimes my aim is pretty bad :D More importantly, someone else might find a really good spot where they can hit the boss pretty safely and I didnt find anything on my quick attempt.

Usually the people I hear about soloing these things have better gear than Ady does by the sounds of it

I feel like I need to put a pic up and/or do it again.

I think it probably does scale down for solo. 3 of the 6 Minotaurs were red bar and 3 were yellow, how does that compare? Lots of ducking, diving and getting the feck out of there going on!

That's what I usually do, I run from 1 side of the ramp and shoot, and then when he turns I go to the other side. The Nexus boss was never the problem though, its the lvl 24 Goblins and Hologoblins (sp) that spawn and cause chaos. I am a hunter, maybe my golden gun special is just not the right thing to help on this mission.

My AR drops a Goblin in 5 good shots and has a 21 clip. I go for the Hobs first so they do that shielding thing to give me a break and clear out the rest before finishing them off. Imagine this is standard tactic though.

Got to be as efficient as possible with your time when the Goblins do go though. At one point the just didn't stop coming and I was on red for about 90 seconds none stop ha

All that stuff scales down.
Haven't solo'd the nightfall strike but bladedancer is pretty nice for soloing stuff.
Solo you can kill stuff pretty quick with a melee attack and that restores your shield with bladedancer.
Just burn down the nasty things that are likely to kill you (minotaurs, wizards, whatever). While using acolytes and thralls and crap to refill your shield.

Tried a couple with gunslinger and it was a hell of a lot harder though. Spec probably makes a big difference.
But yeah, they scale. Strikes are more unforgiving but no harder than any other solo mission imo.
