Yep thats exactly how it is. Also the "legendary" purple armour has several upgrade circles on it that upgrade defence. Every time you upgrade it the light goes up. So upgrading your legendary armour is another way to get new light levels

My guess is that Bungie held back content so they could release it on a regular basis to keep interest going.
I have to say it doesn't take long to get to 20 and the grinding begins with getting light stats on armor.
I'd recommend that you do the vanguard missions 18, 20, 22, 24 to gain vanguard tokens, increase rep and to get rares/blues. Only takes 65 vanguard tokens to get a legendary piece of armor if your rep is high enough.
I wonder how high bungie will increase the level cap to ...

Any tips for speeding up my levelling guys? I wanna hit 20 ASAP so i can get in one some shenanigans with you all but i'm finding it a bit slow going so far. I've just been doing story and patrols when i can really. Done some bounties too but after i completed my first four or so the next lot i accepted are ones i'm not getting near to completing. Guess i should just keep checking and accepting the piss easy ones.
