Gaming Destiny | Rise of Iron launch

Did the raid and got up to orix only wiping a couple of times, was a very smooth run. Up to 298 now after getting a chest piece and a mark. We didn't do oryx though.

Only got up to the Warpriest last night as it was getting late by the time we got everyone on. Didn't get anything from the chest before the Warpriest apart from a Moldering Shard.

Think we are going to get on early tonight to get this next bit done, we are figuring it out ourselves rather than using youtube to solve the mechanics so its really fun and challenging so far when nobody is telling you what or how to do it.

Up to 292 light now but cant wait to get some raid armor, so many engrams are dropping on the raid too which is awesome.

If anyone else has the step in the exotic quest after the armsday materials bit, I'd suggest teaming up. Have to kill two certain enemies on a special strike with 300 recommended light within 30 seconds of each other

I just hit 289 light and I've done very little outside of normal vanguard strikes, it's really easy to gear up in this game. I'm just waiting for a few friends to catch up and I'll give the raid a try.

The strike is the Darkblade one but there are three majors in the pit with him - one for each element. I tried it with a random but he needed an arc whereas I needed a solar so didn't work out in the end as its hard to keep two of the majors alive. I suggest making a fireteam with two others who need the same sword as you, kill the two majors not of your element and then its easier to focus on the Darkblade and the last major.

If anyone else is on the solar exotic sword quest and at the strike part, let me know as I need to do it too.

Ah, that just sounds painful. Which quest is the one that leads up to that?

I had spent about 90 minutes on it. There was just the two of us and it was halfway through that I realised he had a different sword. Tried to do the last bit but just couldn't and had to go.

Its horrible as it has an epic modifier but no burns so all enemies have shields and stuff and takes a while to take them down if you don't have a weapon of the right element.

Ah right, I'm still yet to fully level my sword up. Got it infused above 180 at least. If you get near the end of the quest again and I'm about I might be able to give you a hand just to finish it correctly.

Ive got a Sol Edge. You will need to wait till i get back from the gym if you need a hand still.

I've managed to end up with 3 strike specific legendaries that aren't for my class! I've got the Devouring Maw (think that's it's name) for Warlocks, Ma'uul's Maulers and Darkblade's Helm for Titans. It's quite annoying when your only character is a Hunter.

I recommend putting them in your vault until you decide you want to run other characters

Yeah I have done. Always had the idea to try out the other classes but never felt like I was caught up enough with everything on my Hunter to bother with starting with another guy. Might do it soonish though just to see how they play.

@Damien have you seen that thing on reddit about being able to get an exotic called the Black Spindle (think that's the name) from today's daily heroic story? Apparently you have to do something specific and different from the normal story bit in the mission in order to get it.

I'd be up for doing it tonight if you're about again, we had such fun with the nightfall last night eh?

Today's probably the last time I can play for the next 2 weeks :( hope I'll be able to catch everyone up when I'm back!

No, but ill help.

While you are on, google "the black spindle" and see what you think.

Yeah it looks great. Would definitely like to attempt that tonight. Should be useful for the raid too

Thanks DL.

Theres a special section in todays daily heroic which fires off a taken version of the taniks strike, complete within 10 minutes and you will get an exotic version of black hammer with 310 attack.

Make sure you get that done.

We'd better make sure we have another punt at the raid sometime this week too since we've got our tasty checkpoint right in front of the Warpriest. After watching a video of that fight, it seems it's not actually too difficult on the whole.

Where is the fun in watching video's of how to defeat boss's or get through parts of the raid?! YouTube has to be my biggest pet peeve now in gaming.

Well, i already knew what to do in this instance since we tried it ourselves earlier this week. Just a case of a fair portion of our fireteam needed a bit more light and probably a bit more practice with what they were doing. I just wanted to watch someone actually do it and, quite frankly, i'm not at all bothered about 'spoiling' anything for myself. At the end of the day, you've still got to go ahead and do the bloody thing. No one's doing it for you.

Each to their own, just showing my age as gone are the days of having no help with video's and walkthrough so readily available so soon after games are released.

Ok who's on now I want to take a shot at this sniper and I'd rather take some of you guys than randoms from the clan

Not anymore. It'll have reset on Tuesday.

At least we should be able to get that chest we missed.

Will definitely need a third as its a toughie. I had an attempt earlier and with 6 mins left on the clock it didn't get finished as one of the people I was with didn't bother attacking the boss in the last room. Key is apparently to get the boss downed fast and destroy the blights as they come up so there's not too many enemies
