Gaming Destiny | Rise of Iron launch

Good to see you got on. I'll do some bounties in the meantime - let me know just before raid is about to start, and if you decide to do the Warmind bounty let me know as I've still got that to do too.

I need the BHammer and the Fang scout. So I can do both hard and normal I suppose... Would prefer normal though. Can try HM from Crota...

If you've not started yet, I am up for it if we looking around 9ish. If have a decent sword bearer we should beast it in less than an hour.

They're adding this in the next update:

Yeah, I agree Brocky. Vault increase is what we really want. In the update though they mentioned something about a change to Strikes which'll be announced next week.

Yep, I said it before and I stand by it. Xur is a wum. Although he did have that inmost light that I was after... Hmmm.

Finally hit level 20 on the titan. So jumped up to 26 with the armour I have. Going to be a pain grinding for exp to level the stuff up, though got a few strikes and all of eris stuff to give me exp at least.

It won't take that long...

Shouldn't do. Got to 29 now, and have regular raid stuff for everything plus an exotic. Just no plate to actually upgrade the stuff

Tomorrows task will be seeing if I can find a group to let me tag along for a normal crota run.

I know that this game had a crazy amount of hype and most people were extremely disappointed when it came out, is that still the perception now? Or have people warmed to it?

Been thinking about getting it.

As with most games now, two things are almost inevitable - Huge over-hype and disappointment due to said over-hype - so it's not really easy to gauge whether you'll like a game, based on it's reception, imo. Before I first got it as a birthday gift, I hadn't even given it a second look and probably wouldn't have bought it myself, tbh. Now I really struggle to put it down.

Normally, I'd advise you to try the demo or do a rental....but that doesn't really apply with Destiny, as the game doesn't really kick in until you hit level 20, which is pretty much the point where you've finished the story.

If you've played MMOs or games like DC Universe Online or Borderlands and are happy with the whole 'grind and farm with friends to get the next cool bit of gear' style of game, then I'd say jump straight in. There are lots of people on here that will help you out.

If you're not sure about that kind of game, then maybe you know someone who has the game who will let you borrow it or watch them play it a while, before committing the cash....?

Got the Crux of Crota!

Don't need anything from HM/NM Crota now and I don't even need to hope for exotics, having got the Gjallarhorn, so now I can just relax and do stuff for fun.

This week I've rolled Monte Carlo and Hawkmoon as rewards from the VOG chest and for killing crota.

3 months ago they would of been great rewards, this week, both sharded within seconds on the them spawning in my inventory.

Funny how quickly these things change.

I played it for a couple of months and find it hard to recommend.

The gun play and overall game mechanics are excellent but there's very little content. After you're through that, it's just an endless grind completing the same missions in the same areas over and over again trying to get better gear. Which is a real drag because of the extremely unfair loot system.

On top of that, you have an incredibly greedy expansion system which basically blocks off content that used to be available for people who haven't forked out for an expansion with very little value for money. I don't know how they get away with it to be honest. You've paid 50 pounds for a game and suddenly one day, important content is no longer available half the time. It's outrageous.

They want you to become addicted to the game and you will be, but after a short time you won't actually have fun anymore. It will be a case where you have to play, not a case where you want to play.

Thankfully I've been able to put the game away. I'd recommend the Borderlands games for a similar, but much less tedious, experience. The gun play, while still solid, isn't quite as good as Destiny's, but it's better written with a better story, fun cartoony characters, more personality and a world that doesn't seem as empty.

Which previously available content is blocked for non-DLC players?

Also, I don't get what you mean by the loot system being unfair. In PvP, sure, it's pretty much random, which is unfair to the players that perform well....but in PVE, which is the real meat of the game, it's hardly unfair.
