Is it to kill the Servitor for the Exotic quest? If so, you can solo it easily up to that point where you kill it. Did it myself yesterday.

My titan is now at 294 with nightfall and raid still to do. Not bad. Did the exotic quests on my warlock and did the powerful gear stuff on my warlock and hunter which helped my titan as my weapons now are 297/298
Nice work Damien. I've still yet to do the raid proper as well. Loaded it up with a few mates earlier today, but they gave up the moment it got slightly hard. Though done the nightfall, which wasn't to hard this week.
What exotic quests am I missing. I'm at 280 and all I've got less is the leviathan quest left
Have you done Rat Kinga and Sturm as well. Those can both be gained from completing all the blue missions on Titan and Nessus I think, in the same manner as you got the multi tool.
Yeah, I did the nightfall on my warlock and hunter. First time I did it was when me, @Painer and @christy87 were getting the Rat King so did it with over 5 mins to spare. Wasn't too tricky once you know to kill the enemies then go through all the rings to add loads of time, then, with the drill bit one person runs forward while the other two collect rings.

My power level has kinda plateaued at 283 and I have no more of those 'powerful gear'/Luminous engram milestones except for the raid. What other things can I do to increase my level?
Have you applied purple mods to all your weapons/gear?
If yes, then infuse them with the ones that don't have mods that drop for you, and you can increase the light level gradually. (Ie purple 284 chest with +5 mod has base level 279, can therefore be infused with a blue drop at 280 to increase light level to 285 (280+5))
Just went flawless in Trials and shot up from 280 to 290.
I got purple mods on all my gear, problem is everything that drops for me is too low to infuse. Guess I gotta wait for the reset to get some more milestones.
Nice. I'd take winning just one game to get the trophy for the emissary but I'm awful at the countdown mode.
Do you play with one character? I've got three and my highest is now on 296 due to doing the milestones on each of the characters and transferring the weapons over.
It's not just that it looks too low to infuse? Infusing "lower" gear takes some getting used to.
If you've got a helmet that is 283 (with the mod on it), then you can use a 279 blue/legendary to infuse the helmet up to 284. You're already doing that, yeah?
It took one ass whoopin' for my friends and I to learn a tactic which we felt was best suited to this mode and map. We stormed temple on attack and had two on defense on either side, with the two defending on the right side (cant remember the name) always flanking.
Yeah that's what I've been doing. For example most of my gear is 284+ with the mods, but the gear I'm getting is dropping at 274 which isn't enough at this point. I could probably try the raid but the guys I play with aren't raid ready in terms of power level.
Only got one character so far, I had 3 last year all Titans. The problem was that getting all 3 of them up was massive grind and I hated it. I don't want to grind up another 2 characters from the time being but I might at some point.
My two are stuck at 270 something and 268.

@Damien I've done the ones for Sturm and the Multi tool, halfway through the Rat King one.
I just read that it's actually faster to create a new character of the same class if you want to boost your PL past 265 and has done all the milestones, just rush through the campaign, transfer your gear and do all the milestones again
What's the verdict now? Will I be able to play catch up? Is the general verdict that the game is worth buying at all?
I think it is but I'm a Destiny fanboy and played it at its worst. As for catching up, you should be able to no problem. There's a light cap of about 300-305 with raid being recommended playing at 260-280. Within a week you should be at 260 no problem.

Damn, the raid is quite tricky. First part was easy, however, the pleasure garden is a pain. Anyone got past that?
Anyone thinking of starting extra characters of the same type, e.g. three titans, you might want to check that you will get milestones for them.

Yeah i looked into it and there is a lot of different information out there basically i have read that:
1) Creating a new character and transfering gear will give you higher rewards for milestones
2) Creating a new character (even a different class) will give you capped rewards, ie 10 below your current PL
I can understand that Bungo don't want people to just make several titans (for example) boost their way to a high PL through the backdoor, but at the same time in case of #2 it would make it near impossible to level up alts of different classes
Nah that different class thing is definitely not true.
Yeah pretty sure different classes still gets uncapped rewards. They were just trying to stop the D1 tactic where people made three hunters to speed up getting raid ready by transferring armour as well as weapons across.

You can get Nameless Midnight as a drop from Zavala. Just involves grinding strikes.
Set tonight as a deadline to get the raid finished. Probably accumulated 12 hours of playtime trying to defeat Calus but for the life of me can't get into a group good enough to get the job done so I'm hoping there are some 290+ who have completed it and willing to help out.
If not will concentrate on levelling other characters which I'm yet to start. 291 with my titan just grinding so I'm fairly happy with that.
