Dele Alli - Performance Thread 2017/18

Goals win games, you do know that right?
Really? I hadn't realized that...
Its a very simplistic way of looking at a player. Its that sort of mentality that's why England are shit as a football team.
Eriksen for example was and is far better and made a bigger contribution to the win despite getting one goal instead of two.

I Would love to have attacking players here dominating season after season like himself, Kane and Erickson, He was brilliant tonight. 10/10. Madrid were pretty crap, lots of other teams would have still sat back and played for the draw but spurs were all over them and got to show their own quality plenty too. Great match to watch!

Taking a lot of flack on Spurs' forum.
Seems like some think he wants out.

Being found out and marked, mixed with giving 90% as well as beliving he has already made it. Never a good combination. Alli is great at getting into the right positions when Spurs are flying, but if they are not he is less valuable than even Sissoko for this team. Does not contribute in much more than scoring goals these days.

He is a lot about physicality so if he isn't in form he struggles.

Wow. Was excellent against Real Madrid just a month back. Since then, not only him, but Spurs as a whole have been out of form.

The lads 20 years old. He will go through bad spells. Its normal. Still a top quality player.

I strongly disagree.

He's not 'a lot about physicality'. Yes, he can get physical, but being physical and a lot about physical are two different things.

Dele Alli is a very intelligent player, who displays great movement, especially for a guy of his age. He knows where to be at the right time.

At the moment, Alli's struggles are coming from Eriksens bad form, who has been struggling to create.

This is why I feel Poch will push for Barkley - another creative midfielder, in Jan to help with Spurs' creativity.

Kane
Alli
Rose Eriksen Wanyama Barkley Aurier
Vertonghen Dier Sanchez
Lloris

This. Despite certain people insinuating that he'll only get better due to age; last season always felt similar to Martial's first season to me. Everything was going right for him, but given his age I saw a big dip in form on the horizon, which seems to be manifesting.

He'll be back stronger though ala Martial this season.

Still believe he over achieved initially. That's built up this media hype that he can't justify anymore. Now he's trying to hype himself up through the media and with new agents.

Guy is 20 years old

Even Lukaku goes through a tough time apparently because fans started singing about his bells & he is significantly older

If d.ali is able to achieve 1/2-3/4 of what he achieved in his first season then he will be a fine player.

Finding ways to adapt & change games when you are marked or easy to defend against is part of the things that make you grow up as a player.

Eriksen for example was good but not so shiny in his first couple seasons at spurs even though he was nice at ajax; in the last season & a half is when he has really settled in.

Ali has plenty of time. Absolutely too much time

This may sound like sour grapes (and probably is, in a way), but I'm not a fan of Dele Alli. Enormous talent, enormous potential, but an enormous tosser. He's a very good player, but he's nowhere near as good as he could be, and nowhere near as good as he thinks he is.

He could go on to become as good as Zidane and I wouldn't want him near our club. Such a tramp. Hopefully he matures in the coming years.

Press are very blind to his twattery. Nasty piece of work.

He played outstanding for the majority of the match yet still managed to commit a completely unnecessary douche foul - something wrong with the way that kid is wired

He's a cnut. Always has been, always will be. A chav in a football kit.

He's nowhere near as good as he or others think he is either. So infuriating watching him try to nutmeg the guy every single time.

Horrible human being. A chance for retrospective action...no chance

I know what you mean, with him being the media golden boy.. but with the ref booking him anyway, then it wouldn’t get retrospective action. The ref obviously deemed that dangerous, petulant, red card worthy tackle... a yellow.

Don't watch him often, but did occasionally.
Never got the hype.
Today he looked like Mkhitaryan's evil little brother.
Good runs, talent is there to see every now and then, but his decision making is dodgy and he cannot complete a five yard pass when it counts the most.
And yes, he is a dirty cnut.
