Bossed the midfield today and would improve the midfield instantly. But people downplay his performance because he is English. I'd have him over Sabitzer or Fred any fecking day.

He’s physical, fairly quick, he can pass the ball and he’s aggressive.
We have no players who tick all of those players who play in midfield. Casemiro is slow, Eriksen is slow, weak and timid, Fred isn’t aggressive nor can he pass for sh*t, McTominay can’t pass.. we need more quality players like Rice in our midfield. Simple as that.

He’s a very limited footballer who plays his best as a pseudo 3rd CB.
Gone are the days when people could actually watch a game and come up with an opinion without using stats.
But seeing as you like stats so much, according to whoscored, he was the highest rated centre midfielder (7.7) in today's game.
Casemiro and Eriksen got 6.8 and 6.5, respectively, despite having more passes, more shots and tackles then Rice. I guess common sense comes into it after all.

Rice put up almost identical stats to Caicedo in the FA cup sem-final against us. One performance was hailed as the next best thing, one was having the ''lowest bar possible'. The Caf will continue to Caf.

I also watched the game, he didn't do anything of note that calls for the term 'dominating'. We were shit and made him look a lot better than he is.

West Ham managed a clean sheet against City at their ground for 45 min, parking the bus is their forte. That doesn’t mean Rice dominated us, it’s pretty easy to just intercept and tackle physically terrible players (Bruno and Eriksen) or technically terrible/physically average (Weghorst, Fred). Even then, they didn’t exactly manage to string passes together and the few forays he made upfield ended in nothing.
It’s the Maguire syndrome all over again, looks assured and dominant in his best condition, but utterly useless when asked to be more adventurous.

Bellingham gets hype but i always see it more in rice especially in his performances for England which i admit i watch more than the bundesliga. Think he has progressed as much as he as he can under a coach like moyes & he could do with a new boss to focus a bit on his passing game, Arteta would be good for him.

For a while it even looked like it might happen and we had a seemingly free run at him but I'm guessing the ship has sailed now and there's too many other clubs after him that we probably don't stand a chance in our current state. Would be my ideal pick for Enzo's midfield partner in a two man midfield.

I still stand by the fact he'll move to a rival, and you'll have people on here whinging why didn't we go for him when he becomes an absolute rock for them.

He may indeed be "better on the ball than people think", but our team isn't missing that. It's missing "every bit as excellent on the ball as people think", as signing another midfielder in the former category still leaves us struggling under pressure in midfield. So his qualities are only relevant to other teams who don't have that priority.
Honestly, I think he's a bit overrated by the media and his price tag, but by the same time I think he's underrated by people who just view him as a bit of a destroyer and who think he's overrated as he's English.

As a box to box 8, creating turnovers and winning possession high up the pitch, able to drive forward with the ball, but still with the mobility to recover and get back. Xhakas last gasp tackle yesterday for instance, think that's something they could envisage Rice doing more regularly. The fact he can slip in and cover the 6 position very comfortably is a great bonus.

I had the exact same thought. We need a metronome not someone like Rice unless we ditch Bruno and replace him with an old school highly technical #10.
He's a player that we would have loved to have come through our academy for instance, but not what we need to go out and sign for big money. Shame really.
