Mickeza
still gets no respect
I still think we bid using Mctominay once the price is settled.
I know it shouldn’t be a factor, but I do wonder how much Mount leaving has an impact on Rice’s decision not to want Chelsea anymore. May be a reason why Rice chooses city over Arsenal too.My honest feeling is that if Rice and Caicedo were both available and both wanted to come to Chelsea, we would choose Rice. But Rice doesn’t want Chelsea anymore. There’s no reason Chelsea would let Arsenal have a free run at him for so long, if there was a chance Rice would accept a move to Chelsea. We would have been in there and it would have been a bidding war.
Rice will play where Stones has been playing. Stones has done great but rice would be more suited. Stones will probably drop back into the back 3 with Walker potentially leaving. So are City going to bench Rodri for Rice or is Rice going to follow the same career path as Kalvin Phillips? Can't see Pep starting both Rodri and Rice. Too defensive.
Ah fair. So he's a Stones replacement. I guess that makes sense as he used to play CB in his academy days.Doesn't John Stones do this CB into CM thing now? so its usually Rodri, Gundo and Stones in midfield when in possession.
Rice can play the Gundogan role, as for Phillips that £50m can be covered by a couple of fake sponsors and leave him sat on the benchDon’t get the move for City. Rodri is arguably the best in the league at sitting right in front of the defense and controlling matches from deep. So why spend £100m or more on Rice who occupies the exact same area? When you’ve also just spent £50m on another DM in Phillips who they don’t even use.
I think they'll just buy Scott when they've sold Rice, I don't see us ever spending what they want before selling:I still think we bid using Mctominay once the price is settled.
I don’t know that he’s 20 GA/s player but time will tell as he’s obviously going to end up in a more attacking team.In a more attacking team that enjoys more possession and higher quality colleagues he'll be 20 goals/assists a season.
He strikes the ball well, is excellent at carrying it on driving runs - his main limitation is a range of passing and how quickly he moves the ball at times.
Last year he had the highest number of 'progressive carries' of whatever it's called in Europe at one point, and was alongside Lanzini in the top 5 for pass accuracy, ball retention.
He's a very good player and not quite what many outsiders seem to think.
He's a full all-rounder who , with goals, would obviously be stratospheric in price. If he adds the goals, £90m-£100m will look cheap.
Arsenal moving from Rice to Caicedo doesn't really drop their level at all IMO so if I was an arsenal fan I wouldn't be too concerned. Be interesting to see what Pep does with Rice if they do get him. I don't see him as anything other than a 6 (or that Stones role), though I guess stones is 29 so maybe that's part of the thinking... I dunno, just seems a weird one. Though I guess they did get Grealish to sit on the bench for a year so not a whole lot different to that.
Is this how helpless other teams felt in the early noughties?
If he goes City then he will do the John Stones job.
Rice won't replace Rodri.
Walker leaves I'd say.
This is revisionist at best. Ferguson use to say this every other transfer window. Best example was the fact that we won the league in 07 and went out and bout Hargreaves, nani, Anderson and tevez and won the CL following season. Bought berbatov the season after that too.City are like Real Madrid. Doesn't matter how good they are or how much they win, they continue to strengthen and improve. That's something we've never been able to do since the Glazers took over. The decline of our team in Fergusons last few years in charge was sad to see. Didn't even bother replacing Ronaldo with anyone decent
Phillips was never anything more than a homegrown quota player though. Rice is a far superior playerthey did the same last season with Kalvin Phillips
fecking City.
Win the treble then drop hundreds of millions on players they don’t even need.
These lot lose Gundogan and possibly Silva, so they just go and replace with the most coveted CM in the market. Every move they make turns my hate for the Glazers up a few notches.

If City and Arsenal want Rice I don't see him choosing a move to United over either of them.
The only thing that might change his mind is that Mount is one of his best friends but I don't think that will be enough to convince him to turn down staying in London with Arsenal or bigger wages and more chance of success at City.

from memory i think it took 3 years for Ronaldo's money to be spent. Listen its game over if City has entered as they always get their man, or its another Ronaldo moment.Good point. I've been saying this for years. You rebuild from a position of strength, not when the team is aging and on the slide. City understand this and Guardiola is pretty adept at moving players on. United, on the other hand, have twice in my lifetime allowed great teams to age, stagnate, and fall away.
They’re not strengthening though. They’re about to lose two of their most important playersCity are like Real Madrid. They're trying to prevent a strong rival from obtaining a important upgrade to their team. It's a tactical move they're attempting.Don’t get the move for City. Where he belongs.Pep will end up putting him in defense.
