He wants to go to Arsenal boys

Stop getting your hopes up, best we get here is we’re helping West Ham extract some more cash out of Arsenal that they can then spend on McTominay

I'm not convinced he's got such a leaning towards Arsenal that he wouldn't go to any other CL side, hell even Chelsea probably. If other teams came in for him, I doubt he'd say no, Arsenal's not that attractive.

I got the impression that he’d rather stay in Laandan, not sure where from. Maybe the fact that his bestie is coming to United might be a bit persuasive

50m plus Scott and Harry
Seen this idea floated around. I think it would be terrible business. Just because we want to get rid of McToninay and Maguire doesn’t mean we should grossly undervalue them.

We need to be valuing Maguire at £40-50m
McTominay at £30-40m
I’d start with both for Rice, then add no more than £20m.

The only way to be taken seriously as a club is to walk away from deals. I feel like Rice is the perfect player player where we can go for him but also walk away with credibility if West Ham value him too highly.

100m for Rice would objectively be worse than 65m for mount. At least that's what I'm going to tell myself to feel better.

I'm sure we're going to be arguing this for a while with the gooners

Maguire for 50m? From who?

I like Rice but following England I often feel like we struggle to play out if the opposition successfully cut out the supply from the likes of Luke Shaw. I’ve rarely seen Rice take responsibility on those occasions and I think he is a bit limited in receiving the ball from defence, being press resistant and playing progressive passes. We would need to be partnering him with someone like De Jong not someone like Mount.

Great character, great athlete, a good age, reads the game well, disciplined…but for upwards of £80m I’m not sure he’s it.

Quality player, but also not really what we need. There is some really weird planning going on if Mount and Rice are the players we're after in midfield. They are both most similar to the two actual world class midfielders we have.
Kind of how I feel as well. Neither are bad players individually but I don't think either of them really move the needle for us, relative to what they'd cost.

Agreed my reservations are with him on the ball. It’s worked for Liverpool though having midfielders (Thiago aside) who are better without the ball than with it….whether we could make that work with our full backs is another matter

I feel this way too but not sure who the solution is? De Jong doesn’t seem available and everyone we get linked to seems to be either a DM an attacking number 8 or someone more box to box. Who is the next Xavi, Scholes, Modric, De Jong? We need to find them

Maguire is nowhere near worth 40-50m, Mct value and maguire value combined is around 60m maybe 65m imo. Westham want 120m and arsenal already had a 90m bid rejected.

Isn't Mason Mount his bff?

This doesn't get spoken about enough. Often when he's receiving the ball facing his own goal, he can shit himself when getting pressed and kick the ball out of play. After finally getting a press-resistant midfielder in Casemiro, it would feel like a backwards step for Rice to be his successor.

In what world does an automatic England starter get valued at £25m? This is the thinking of Murtough and Arnold that sees us sell players for ridiculously lo. While we most probably won’t get £50m for him we should set the asking price at £50m and aim to shake hands on £40m

Also the best way we can get the best value for him is in a part exchange. Only problem will be Moyes does have a good habit of unearthing very players in the £5m to £20m range so might not even want Maguire and prefer the cash.

One positive of this is he can replace both Scott and Maguire. So two for one.

Can't wait for the West Ham fans who think a 75m + 15m bid is derogatory to comment on these Maguire + McTominay plus cash swap reports.

If we manage to sell McTominay for cash to someone then sign Rice in a cash plus player deal with the player being Maguire it’ll be up there with anything Dick Turpin ever managed, we’d have practically stolen Rice from West Ham

Isn't Rice a bit of a homebody? I think he'll stay in London.

He'd prefer to eat like a peasant with his jellied eels, instead of dine like a king with his Greggs sausage rolls.

Rice is one of the most press resistant players in the PL.
Maybe the stats will prove me wrong but I can only go off the dozens of games I've watched him play for West Ham and England. His body movement seems clunky and reminiscent of Maguire. He can't turn quickly. I can't recall him ever dropping a shoulder and feigning a pass to beat the press. His passing range isn't strong either.
Perhaps my viewpoint is slanted because he doesn't fit the type of nifty DM style that I prefer. Nevertheless I do worry that his limitations would be exposed at a club the size of United.

his passing range is really good

he can ping long balls with either foot

Casemiro has may qualities as DM but being press resistant isn't one of them unfortunately .

We're going to have to agree to disagree on that one. I've seen Casemiro cooly control a hospital pass from De Gea with the opposition breathing down his neck and beat the press plenty of times this season.

I doubt it. He will go to any club offer him the best financial package and the best sport project. Chelsea, Liverpool, Man city, Utd even Newcastle can offer that to him in EPL.

In what world are we getting 80-90 million for those two?

We’ve absolutely no chance of signing rice. We need a ST and GK. both of them will take up most of our budget.

Really? Thought he had his heart set on Arsenal and didn’t want to leave London. Maybe I’ve invented it

We ain’t getting more then 30m for Mctominay  Mac Allister was like 35m. People need to stop over exaggerating with the price of our players. Just because we was stupid to pay 80m for the likes of Maguire it doesn’t mean we’ll get loads for him back. He’s awful and worth no more than 30m. I mean I’ll be delighted if there’s another stupid club out there that wants to splash 50m on Maguire and 40m on Mctominay but can’t see it.

No you probably didn't invent it. That is probably his preference if other things are equal. A big if Arsenal can meet West Ham's demand, and match other club's financial package. Mykhaylo Mudryk had his mind set on Arsenal not long ago too.

EhWHUEmployee are fairly reliable too. Interesting state of play.

Rice, Mount & hopefully Kane/Onana/Rabiot

Would he a fantastic window

I mean, it would need to be all 3 of them but yes then we are talking about a fantastic window especially if we got rid of Maguire and McTominay as part of the Rice deal and then ship Fred to Fulham.

Good window and most importantly will be underwhelming to the Brexit haters

I don’t think the Rabiot deal happens with Rice though. But he could end up going Arsenal instead who will need a replacement to Rice. Interesting week ahead.

Would definitely take this, if we give them Maguire (£25m) and McTominay (£25m) and extra £30/40m to West Ham, it would be a perfect deal.

However; West Ham will probably want £60m.

Let’s hope they are reliable as they said it COULD be true. That’s absolutely massive.

How did we decide that this source is considered reliable, also when was the last time you saw two players go one way but only one the other. Can anyone shed some light on either of these things.
