Dean Henderson | On loan at Forest | gives public outburst against United

Hasn’t Henderson got 4 years left on his contract ? He’s an English keeper with lots of potential and on an upward trajectory so I hope £15 million is for a season loan fee and wages which I think are £5 million a year.

With De Gea being out of contract next summer I think Henderson having a year at Newcastle as first choice is a great move, if he shows he can perform for a club who will no doubt be in the running for Europe next season and will sign a lot of players this summer then he either raises his price tag for us to sell on or shows he can be our first choice after De Gea.

I’d give him Europa league and all the cup games. I still don’t feel we’ve had a proper look at him really.

By all accounts he's not happy to accept that though, he wants to be first choice and playing week in week out. And I don't blame him given he'll be 26 next season.

But clearly keeping him in that case will do nothing to help our dressing room issues. Particularly when you consider he's already strongly rumoured to be one of the main sources of stories emenating from the dressing room as is. We don't want that discontent next season.

If we're not going to make him first choice (which it seems we aren't) then he needs to leave.

We should be selling De Gea instead.
I’d like to see them both sold for a new long-term GK who suits Ten Hags system

Unfortunately United need to replace Matic, Pogba and Cavani (maybe Greenwood) before even thinking of the GK position. And the full back positions are a disgrace too.

Ideally yes. I just hope we don't give De Gea a new contract with a year left.

If I was sitting on the negotiation table I will start with this line after reading their 15m offer: "So you thought Longstaff worth 50m and now you are paying 15m for a young promising English goalkeeper? Get out"

Young and promising with being 25 years old?
For a goalkeeper thats young. Hes also established in the PL. We are forgetting how good he was for Sheffield in their first season in the league.

I’d take 25m plus the option of some bonuses, such as 5m for European qualification.

We could also say 20m, plus 5m if you avoid relegation and 5m if you qualify for Europe. 10m if it’s the CL, and he plays at least 25 games in the season. For the duration of his initial contract.

I think that’s very fair for a player who is clearly mid table standard at worst, and who harbours England aspirations. But who, on the flip side, is unlikely to ever be our long term number 1.

That is a baby in goalkeeping terms to be fair, he could nearly play another 2 decades!
Meanwhile De Gea (31) is "finished and has only few good years left".
Anyway, i also think that we need and can get at least 25 for him

If the shoe was on the other foot and we were trying to buy Henderson off any PL team we would have to pay £30m+ .

Newcastle are rich. Milk them.

Yeah people are ridiculously harsh on De Gea IMO. Agreed on the 25mill at least, seems about right....can probably get a smidgen more hopefully.

Other teams really do take us for fools. If this were Chelsea, they’d somehow be getting 40m up front for the lad.

Yep that worked out well before when we tried to milk a bigger loan fee for Lingard

they are rich not stupid

This seems like the correct kind of deal to me. We aren’t gonna get 40m up front. Cloud cuckoo land

If this were Chelsea they would have sold him straight after Sheffield loan finished rather than let him rot on the bench for nearly 2 years. Got only ourselves to blame as always.

Theyll know of course the player is desperate to leave and they can wait. It’s on us to get rid of him more than them to overpay. We gave him a stupid stupid contract which was always going to put a ceiling on the amount we could ask for him. I know Newcastle are rich but I think they’ll want to avoid the expensive mistakes the likes of us Everton and City initially made.

Exactly. They are rich but not stupid. For 20-25 mil, they will buy him

Well I'm totally shocked we couldn't sell a player for a good fee

They are actually doing a pretty decent job so far. Nothing crazy. We could have had 40 million off them or so for Lingard and Henderson, both of whom are on well over 100k a week. I think that’s as good as it’ll get for us from them really. Not many teams can afford to pay those wages and Newcastle will know they are pretty close to the only show in town that can

Luckhurst and Romano are fairly consistent that Newcastle are talking to his agent so I’m not buying it.
I am not saying that they are not buying Hendo but they are not doing it like City ten years ago. "How much? 50? Ok, we will give you 60".
Orwhen Ed said that we can pay whoever we want and then every club wanted extra, money from us

No one is interested in our deadwood as usual. Woodward and Judge fecked us with the scandalous contracts they handed out

I'd be surprised if Newcastle are the only ones interested in him. I know how other clubs view us in the transfer market, but unlike alot of the players we are trying to get rid of, Henderson could be a really good buy for someone.

Our most marketable deadwood turns out to be not so marketable. Probably something to do with that contract that's 3x his value.

Newcastle has a very good DOF that is good at finding value in the market. I don't think Henderson is deadwood but it is complicated for clubs to agree a transfer fee for a player. May be the fee and/or wages for the player is deemed too high compare with other options in the market.
