De Gea deserves every single penny he gets, more than anyone in the ManUtd squad. Most consistent performer for ManUtd since 2011, apart from his first few games, he is consistent and consistently superb.

I reckon Marca are in the right ball park. Reports have suggested he wants to be level with Sanchez.
Think €21m is fair.

Yeah, like I said in my other post, if any player deserve every single penny they get, it's De Gea. He is superb and also made PFA team of the season for 4 continuous years and over all 5 times already.

De Gea will never win us a game. might stop us from losing but will never win us a game goals are the hardest thing in football and always beleive they should be the top earner's and getting the top awards

If you're winning by 1 goal and your goalie makes an impossible save (City Away - Aguero's header) he effectively wins you the game.

if the keeper makes the save then clearly it wasnt an impossible save surely ? in 20 years when someone looks at the results of that day they will remember who scored the goals not de gea making a save in the last minute. it might be unfortunate for keepers but its just the way it is

It's not impossible for De Gea but it might be impossible for 99% of all other keepers in the world. That's the point. World class keepers like De Gea can win us games (or at least a point if our attack fecks up). GK position is so underrated by some, he surely won us at least 10 points on his own last season.

It's been roughly 4 years since that game vs Everton which we won 2-1. Close your eyes and run a recap of the game. I'm not sure whether you can recall both our goals and the Everton goal but I'm sure as hell, the Penalty save, and the saves post the 85th minute will feature in that highlight reel

Stop talking bollocks. Remember Arsenal game at the Emirates?

I think the argument is that a goalkeeper can have the best game of his life and do everything asked of him, but the game finish 0-0 (so cant win the game), while a striker if he does everything asked of him then you can say he'll score 1 more then the opposition. Obviously incredibly simplistic view, but the people who score the goals will always be more expensive then those who keep them out.

Nor will Lukaku. Because he will never keep a clean sheet.

(I know, I know, I’m banging my head of a wall here but I just can’t fecking walk away...)
Obviously he cannot remember the days of Roy Carroll and Tim Howard et al. United tried to replace Peter Schmeichel for years. During that time the team struggled and the difference Edwin made when he came in was clear for all to see. So saying a keeper cannot win you a game is idiotic when a bad keeper can certainly lose you a game.

yeah i remember it well alot of good saves but when you watch them back if he didnt save them then you would have serious questions asked of him, i think there was 2 great saves in the game, think both were from lacazette. again comes down to our poor defence around him. hes over worked

Real Madrid have just won 3 CL with a bang average keeper, so it can be done, our struggles come from poor inconsistent players.

We had shite GKs in the early 2000s and arguably the best out and out striker during that time. Remind me how successful were we then?

I still remember a goal line clearance from Placente(I think) in our semi vs Leverkeusen. I think it was Forlan's shot.
When I think of a missed CL chance that year, I remember that goal line clearance. I honestly don't remember any goals from that two-legged tie.
Saves matter and are remembered too.

So he effectively won us the game then by making two great saves, which other keepers would not have made.

Listen, you said yourself that "he might help us draw", surely you can apply the same logic when a team is narrowly winning. Your own logic by the way. What would you call that if not a match winning performance?

Well, with other GKs like Courtois and Alisson available, who despite being expensive would still be cheaper than the 120-150 mil we will definitely demand for Dave, it was inevitable he would stay.

Madrid no longer need him since he is not (yet, atleast) the "posterboy" of Spain despite being their #1.

Some people on the caf are fecking bonkers. Downplaying the importance of De Gea and calling Lukaku an improved version of Benteke. :wenger:

no he dont hence why he will never win us a game
He can stop us from not winning. Which means he effectively wins win the game.

Please go away with your tedious negativity and pedantry in light of what should be otherwise great news.

Guess we won't get a proper confirmetion before Spain are out of the WC.

Really? Guess they do not have Flåklypa in Oslo wich isnt sursprising.

They don't watch things like that in Oslo, they only care for Paradise Hotel and Kardashians.

DDG is the best goalkeeper on the planet. Bar none. His quite frankly phenomenal performances between the sticks have earned/saved United more points than any single player during the period of SAF's departure to the present day. To offer him parity with the clubs highest earner, Sanchez, is the bare minimum they can do.

You my friend, are hilarious. But stop now, please.

I don’t post very often but I came here today upon seeing the thread title because the prospect of our best player signing a new contract is encouraging. All I’ve managed to ascertain from this page is that de Gea will never win us a game. Thank you for that.
