De Gea contract talk | Signs new deal

"I like that there are criticisms," said De Gea. "Diego Costa has also been criticised and he scored two goals. I haven't killed anyone, either. I'm happy with the national team.

"I don't see much that they support me from Spain. My own criticism is bad enough.

"I would have liked that they defend me more in a difficult moment in my life, with an issue from outside the game.

"I am happy with the support from the manager and the lads.

"This can happen. It's a mistake. We put on our gloves and go out into the field and we know how difficult it is.

"I count on the support of the coach and my colleagues to continue. I will stay calm. It was a difficult ball, I'll keep training and try to do things right. I haven't killed anyone."

Bit of a reference in there to when the Spanish wanted to bury him with that whole sex tape thing I think. Dave knows where he’s loved. I’m very relaxed about him being with us for years to come.

I'm not worried. I think he'll sign a new contract after the world cup. At this point it's not about Madrid wanting him but more about whether he wants to leave United and go to Madrid. From his recent comments, it's pretty clear he doesn't appreciate the way Spanish fans treat him and that's probably because of the reverence he has received from our fans through thick and thin. He also seems to have a good rapport with Jose so I see him signing a contract but if we don't win a major trophy this year, he might agitate for a move but not now.

If he signs a new contract, that would be our best bussiness this summer...Fingers crossed, hopefully he will sign a new deal after the WC....

I hope he makes another big mistake and Spain fails to advance. Hopefully, this would put an end to the Madrid rumors we have to endure every summer.

I find it quite distasteful wanting our players to make mistakes. Making clangers on the international stage could have seriously detrimental effects on players. Look at Karius, do you want DDG to have a match like he had, and the focus that he had on him? He will likely never play for Liverpool again, do you want that for DDG in respect to Spain? Do you want his international career to end?

Do you want our best player to come back to us after the World Cup knowing he was the reason that his country didn’t progress? That’s hardly the frame of mind we want to wish on such an important player.

We should want our players to do well, we will keep DDG because he wants to play for Man Utd and has the support of our fans, unfortunately not fans like you.

I think you have to look at his comments regarding winning titles as an indication where his future lies. If we're nowhere near it again end of next season I can see him going. We should be breaking the bank this summer anyway to get back to the top. As one of the biggest teams in the world we have had too many years off the top now.

Marca's record with international transfers is actually good IIRC, and they've got journalists close to Spain's camp in the WC.

Yay!

Better put "agreed new 5 year deal with United" to stop posters from fretting.

Let’s hope this is true this time! I guess Marca wouldn’t make it up since they are Real’s mouthpiece though.
Sound like usual propaganda piece of work in a sense of "United overpay in wage for DDG, so Madrid is looking elsewhere". Even if DDG ain't signing the extension soon, it's the groundwork for Madrid to condition their fan for the alternative. Pogba case is similar. So it's not black & white. DC can still be true about agreement not yet reached.

With this contract and Madrid going for the Roma GK, you could potentially see him retiring here now.

that's approximately 400k/week. Rooney's and Zlatan's wages surely helping.

Wonderful news! Give him the captains armband as well.

What’s his current wage?

Castle is getting very hit and miss, he called the Dalot deal before anyone else but on the same report he mentioned we were in advance talks for Sandro.

I apologise for quoting the same post twice, but having had time to think about it... it’s truly pathetic for you to wish our best player fails.
