this is going to be the drawn out saga of the summer isn't it?

If Real want a player they usually get their man but We better take madrid to the cleaners, they can have him but we want a very good deal back from them.

I don't mind giving madrid de Gea + cash and getting bale in return, I'd take One of Modric, varane, benzema, Carvajal.

If it's just a cash deal and nothing more then I'll be severely pissed.

Not really....

This is the thing, we don't know how LVG will deal with this.

Very high chance of De Gea rejecting the contract and LVG saying, "All right, there's the door!" ....And LVG is Ed's pet project so he has the backing to do this

This isn't Fergie going on a motorbike through Paris to find Eric...LVG is not the sort to cosy up to a player

To be fair, Iker is not going to like, in his eyes, some no mark taking over. He is Mr. Madrid after all really

And I mean that in the "he's Madrid through and through" way. He's not going to want some Atletico guy coming in and taking over his slot
I read that last year Madrid thought that Iker was leaving, however at the end he changed his mind and Diego Lopez was sold. Now he was offered the rest of the contract(around 30 mill) but he is not sure, even some days ago he said in press conference that would be ok for him to be in the bench next season,so at present I don't know. The board is looking forward to find a new keeper, too much noise and problems around him besides has lost a lot of confidence and every game is a lottery, guessing if he will be ok or not.Half of Bernabeu is fed up with him(Mourinho influence) but the other half will forgive him everything. He is a very proud player, has won a lot and is very popular, not only among football fans. De Gea and Iker in the same team is not a good idea

Well regardless, you'll have De Gea sooner or later.

And the next world class player we groom for you :D

Yeah I know that's whats worrying me I just don't want us to be left with the short straw in this deal. (If it happens)

It's not losing De Gea that I have an issue with....

It's us losing a genuine world class player to Madrid, again, and how it looks from the outside. That's my problem.

We're Manchester United and yet we buy young players, groom them into world class players and let them spend their peak years in Madrid....That's utter bollix...Search through this forum and we have people laughing at Liverpool over Suarez and Sterling. What's the difference? *

*Except that Sterling is not world class

He'll sign an extension and move to Madrid for big money in a couple of years (once Casillas fecks off to America or some other second rate retirement league for washed up players). It seems so clear to me.

Hypothetically speaking, if he doesn't sign a new contract, what would the caf think of us sticking him in the reserves next season and letting him run his contract down? I am just a little sick and tired of Real coming and cherry picking our players. Honestly, unless the offer from them is 30M pounds or more, or we can get a good player swap, then I would prefer to stick to our guns. If we want to be seen as the biggest club in the world, then we can't be their feeder club.

But maybe I am just being petty.
You know I would probably do it. If he disrespects us and tries to leave on a free, yeah I probably would make an example out of him. But then maybe I'm being petty...

I expect him to sign once we have secured CL. If he don't, he can feck off for all I care. No player is bigger than the club and I do not for a second thinks that we can't find a replacement for him.

If we can't get a good deal for him (in case he didn't sign the contract), just bring in his replacement and let them compete for the spot. Why should we even be begging him to stay? We are Manchester United, not Liverpool. We do not need to beg players to play for us, players should be begging to play for us.

That's a good way to stop anyone wanting to join us ever again.

It would be a far bigger deterrent to anyone wanting to join us with view to moving to a "better" club than it would be to someone who doesn't see United as a stepping stone. So I'm all for it.

So you'd rather we'd never signed DDG or Ronaldo?

Because the good performances we had from them mean shit if/when they leave?

More importantly, why would Chelsea sell him to us? They sold us Mata, at a bit of an inflated price, when they thought that we were not competing with them. It was tactical. Now, we are hoping to be going toe-to-toe with them for the title. Why would they strengthen a rival, for an amount probably less than 20 million? They will also likely have a number of other clubs after him.

Personally we would be better going for Oblak, Leno or Lloris. All are probably more getable, though Lloris would be harder and Leno has said that he is happy at Leverkusen.

Chelsea are said to have an agreement with Cech to let him 'chose his own destination' out of respect for what he's done for the club. He's being strongly linked with Arsenal as well.

And yeah forget about going for Lloris, talk about inflated prices Spurs would take us to the cleaners. The thought of having to sell De Gea for £30m then having to pay a higher fee for Lloris is sickening.

Doubt many players join a club with a view to be there the entire time. One never knows what the future holds, be it for the player or the club.

Looking at this situation in an unbiased way, I can't stop getting frustrated about this aspect of the club. For some reason I would expect Real Madrid to be able to come and get any player they want from us and Arsenal but I believe they would find the same feat much more difficult or even impossible to take anyone from Chelsea or even Manchester City these days.

If Hazard was playing here and Real Madrid wanted him, I would say he'll leave but if Real Madrid go knocking at Chelsea's door, are you confident he would leave? Our stars seem much more open to influence from the outside or we're just not doing a good enough job to make them believe that they're really at the a club that strives to win everything and not just the domestic title.

If Real want Hazard, he'l be gone. I expect it to happen next summer anyways so we'l all know. Real and Barca are just a different animal when it comes to players wanting to play there, it doesnt even have much to do with players feeling their current clubs wont win much.

It's business. He honors his contract, it's not as if he stop playing well and going awol.

Would club be a cnut when they stop offering contract to a shit player? It works both ways.

If it's up to me, ill put 45m as release clause and if any club meet that and he wants to leave then fair play.

Well I'm happy enough with the return from Ronaldo but he was one of a kind. Almost unheard of for a young player to be that productive before he peaks.

If DDG pisses off this summer then yes, I absolutely wish we'd signed someone else instead of him. No idea who that would have been. Probably Lloris?

Anyone suggesting his contract should have been sorted last season are having a laugh!

With DM at the helm I would be surprised if his own daughter would have signed a contract.

Then being manager-less is not the best bargaining tool for United to negotiate with either.

Definitely. All that work/patience when he was going through his growing phase only to give us just two top class seasons and no trophies. To boot, he'd leave for a minor fee too. I would be happy with Lloris too by the way - can't believe Harry (?) made him duke it out with Brad Friedel at the start of his Spurs career!

Meh, I don't get that. If he does leave I'll be pretty gutted but I've enjoyed having him here so I'm not gonna say I wish it'd never happened.

We've seen it a mile off that Madrid need a new keeper with Casillas' form over the last few years and de Gea was the natural choice. United must have seen the same and to let a player of his calibre run down his contract is embarrassing for the club.

He's got all the bargaining tools and we're fecked.

Another player potentially leaving due to poor forward thinking from us.

If he wants to go feck him, let him go. Replacing De Gea will be a lot easier than replacing Ronaldo, there is no shortage of top quality keepers and we are not short of money. I don't think him leaving at all will be a big issue provided we are smart about it.

  • Lloris
  • Leno
  • Handovic
  • Horn
  • Cech
  • Valdes

I actually think that goalkeeper is the hardest position to find good players these days, of the ones you menioned only Cech has the ability and experience we require.

Lots of blame and anger being thrown around here, some at United, some at Madrid, some at De Gea. Am I the only one who doesn't think anyone in the current situation is doing anything wrong?

Also I still have no idea if he will stay or not. I'm still watching Madrid matches hoping that Casillas starts playing fantastically and leads to them a league/CL double.

What would actually keep him here? They'll match wages and then from there I don't see what United could offer a Spanish lad that Madrid can't better.

But if we have seen it a mile off so has de gea and his agent
He probably wouldn't have wanted to Re negotiate straight away with Moyes
Would certainly have wanted to put it off last season as it became apparent we would fail to get in the cl
And negotiations seem to have started from last summer so I don't think there is much more we could have done.

Handanovic isnt good enough, makes mistakes all the time. He lives from his past reputation. Horn i dont know about. Leno is good, but i think people overhype him. Never thought he could become a top class GK. Cech and LLoris are obviously good enough.

You forgot Jan Sommer and Mattia Perrin, especially Perrin would be my favourite after LLoris.
