Yeah, don't have good vibes about this one. Possibly because it's one of the few times that a transfer to Real Madrid makes total sense to me from the player's point of view.

Still, I guess we were at least smart enough to cover ourselves somewhat by bringing in Valdes early. We'll see what happens I guess.

I'd be gutted if he goes. What's the hurry anyway? Hope he's prepared to deal with the politics; coaches being sacked left right and centre just as you're settling in. Crazy supporters on his back the moment he starts letting in a few goals; another great young keeper coming up that Madrid must have, and then he has to make way for their new toy etc etc etc. Why on earth go there?

Ancelloti said he was happy with his 3 keepers yesterday and they had never talked about signing a new one. He also said he expects to be at Real Madrid next season. Make of that what you will.

Fecking hell. Why do we even bother with these Spanish players.

The report, on afternoon show Jugones, has also claimed that a poor relationship between Louis van gaal and his goalkeeper is one of the principal reasons for the Spaniard opting to up sticks and return to his homeland.

The hell?

Eh? He'd be the first Spanish player to leave us. Not to mention we already have an handful of other very content beautiful little Spanish players. Not to mention the article has already been said to be bollocks.

...of which he is the only one who is good enough to play for Real Madrid. Coincidence?

But it's just frustration, really.

That's debatable.

I understand frustration, but for me the only frustration comes from bullshit articles and people taking them at face value. De Gea is always saying how happy he is here (if you see his Twitter after games for example) so I'd rather be positive about it, until there is good reason to be otherwise. He'll be here next season, I'm convinced.

True. What I can understand is that he doesn't want to commit before we reach fourth. But come summer, I expect him to make a statement either way.

It is always so fecking easy for Madrid, all the other clubs do the hard work to get players to unlock their potential and as soon as they are consistent top performers Madrid only has to whistle and every player comes running to them like a loyal dog.

I think i'll never get it what is so special about them but I know I hate their guts for it.

Hope DDG stays if we manage to finish in top 3 or higher. We love him, he'll get a big fat salary increase and he is guaranteed number one here and we have a very nice group of spanish teamates that must make him feel at home (Mata, Herrera, Valdes, Di Maria, Rojo). Pressure with us will be lower than at Real because we have been humbled by last season whilst if you don't win the CL at Madrid it is considered a failure. Not to mention the atletico half of Madrid would hate his guts for turning to the arch enemy. I'd be seriously disappointed if the spanish sun and his girlfriend nearby would outweigh all of that for him...

David needs to speak out about this, the support we have given him right from the moment he arrived when let's be honest, he wasn't great to what he has become. He owes us at least telling us he's intentions.

Well I'm pretty sure the club knows his intentions at this stage. It's only the fans who don't know right now.

I just feel that if he was staying, he would've signed already. Many are saying that he is waiting to see if we qualify for the champions league... I seriously doubt that makes as much a difference as people expect. Realistically how far can we go in the champions league? QF? With Madrid he will be challenging for the champions league, not just looking for a good display.

Lastly, many people harp on about the fact that we showed faith in him, so he should repay that back now:

First off, how much faith did we actually show in him? My opinion is had he not improved in that second season, he would've been shown the door.

Secondly, has he not already repaid the faith shown in him? Last year was a disaster, and he stuck around to (most likely) get us a champions league place. We wouldn't be in the top 4 without him. I personally think that's repayment enough.

If he wants to be heralded as undoubtedly the best, he will have to play for a team challenging both domestically and in Europe - something which seems quite a way off here.

Chelsea would never sell them their best players like Hazard, Courtios and Costa, unlike us who are about to do it once again.
Despite actually wanting to get rid of him, Mata had been their player of the season 2 years on the trot and they sold him to us.

Our first 11 vs Real next season and we'd beat them.

Even now (with all fit) I'd be confident against them.

How much will we even get for him with a year left on his contract? A tiny fraction of what he's worth.

I'm pessimistic about him staying, I think there's a slim chance of it. Even with his links to Atletico we probably won't be able to keep him from going to Madrid..

Sickening.

£20million max probably. They got Kroos for about £20million as well with a year left on his contract the cnuts.

Weren't they actually meant to go for Leno?

I believe that even if we'll have to sell DDG to those cnuts, he'll sign a contract with us so we can get some monies for him. Maybe I'm deluded but oh well.

That would solve Reals goalkeeper problem for the next 10 years or so. I still have hope that he signs and stays for another couple of years

If that was the plan, he's have signed last year. No way he signs a new deal between now and the summer and then leaves. Why would you piss of your new employers like that? If he's going he's going for 20 odd million. If he signs a new contract it's because he's staying.

Its about Real being interested in them, if Real come calling for a Hazard, Chelsea won't be able to hold on either. Real and Barca have a different sort of pull unlike any other club.

That was just Marca/Real tactics

Did anyone hear the Zidane comment about Real Madrid "signing the best players in the world, not selling them"?
Barca and Chelsea are the same. It drives me mad that we are letting that mentality slip away here.

I'd like to see a "we don't sell to Real Madrid/Barca" clause included in contracts when signing players.

If you want to leave the biggest club in the world and go to live somewhere else because the weather is better, then you are not of strong enough character for Manchester United and you can rot away from the playing squad until your contract expires.

If De Gea wants to stay, then come out and say so. If he is not being offered the contract he thinks he deserves, then come out and say so because that is ridiculous. If he wants to go to Madrid then drop him now. We are not a club that needs the money so badly we should allow our image to be held to ransom. I'd prefer to see him leave for nothing at the end of next season having wasted a year without a single game.

That would send the right message.

Or does anyone honestly believe that the 80million we received for Ronaldo was put to such good use that it hid the fact it made us look like a second rate club?

That would make me sick.

The idea that we need charity from a footballer who thinks he deserves to play for a bigger club than us. Where is our pride?

No it wouldn't, it'd just make top players think twice about joining us in the first place.

I don't want "top" players signing for Manchester United with the idea in the back of their minds of joining Real Madrid one day.
I don't understand that attitude tbh, you'd rather miss out on top players because there's a chance they might want to leave one day? We just have to face it that most Latin players don't see United as the pinnacle of football.
