I dont know after which game it was, but LvG shook hands with every player around him on the pitch after the game, but he ignored De Gea.
Maybe he shook hands with him but the camera didnt catch it. He dismissed the story so no need to go any further, it was bollocks from the start. Lets just see if he'll sign a new contract.

Despite all the positivity coming from the man himself, and various favourable rumours, the De Gea index remains steadfastly stuck on 70/30.

It does confuse why a top pundit for essentially the biggest Premier League network is desperate for one of the best players in the league to be sold to another league. As if the recent Champions League performances haven't indicated how far the top teams have fallen behind those in Europe.

It will weaken a rival to his precious Liverpool.

Well yeah that's the obvious reason. Just confuses me why he would want to weaken the product that he works on further. I'd be very surprised if Neville came out with digs about Sterling and Madrid

I'm not saying I'm an ITK or anything like that, but about 6 weeks back I was told by someone who knows the the players personally that Falcao is deffo going in the summer, he and LvG do not talk to each other. DDG is also off and the club are aware.

Take it with a pinch of salt, I hope theyre wrong

:(:(:(:(:(. Couldn't care less about Falcao.

Who can blame him if he wants out ? At least he always gave 100 % and didn't do a Ronaldo in the press. Good luck to the lad.

I think it's painfully obvious he won't sign a new contract with us now. With the way he's been playing, he'd have signed it ages ago. We've clearly offered him something, but clearly wants to go back to Spain.

Agreed 100%. No way would we leave it this late. If he's not signed by end of May he'll be gone in June/July.

A top pundit? Where?

Swap with bale and we end up with another heart broken Madrid exile on the books- we really need to get back on the front foot...

Yes - whilst I cling to a small hope he will stay looking at things objectively the odds seem to favour a move.

  • Long term girlfriend who lives in Madrid and due to her career moving over here is not a viable option
  • Family who live in Madrid
  • Champions league football almost certain in Madrid and looking about 50/50 here
  • Shed loads of money in Madrid or here
  • Far better weather in Madrid as well
In his position I'd almost certainly go

June/July 2016 you mean? I doubt we'd sell him at the end of this season.
well he could sign a pre contract with somebody in Jan 2016 and leave on a free so if we were offered say £30m (possibly less given his contract status though) and he had made it clear he would not be signing a new deal then it would be brave not to take the money.

I'm not sure if I could handle finishing outside the top four, and then losing one of the top three goalkeepers on the planet. It'd really hit home how bad our situation is and how far we'd have sunk..

Pretty sure his close family are in Manchester and are said to have settled very well.

I think Mendes is waiting to see if we make the CL or not. He has the power in this situation.

his family were over when he signed - I thought they had mostly gone back though - certainly his long term gf does not seem keen on Manchester... apparently saying on TV a few days ago she hates it and its as ugly as hell

I know if my Mrs felt like that about something the long term solution (as with most problems) would be to do what she wants...

It would be time for a total rebuild I think...
I guess not only de gea but di maria and possibly one or two others might not fancy staying with no cl and lucrative offers elsewhere.
Having been a fan from the ron atkinson era I'm not afraid of a few years without success - as long as we seem to be building towards something (like the early years under SAF)
De Gea is one of the worlds top keepers and if we dont get CL football this season I dont think he will get any of the blame for our under-performance as he has been imo our stand out player this year. If we cant give one of the top keepers the opportunity to play at the highest level then I wouldn't blame him for moving on (like when bale left spurs).
A fully fit Valdez is amongst the best keepers in the PL so in that respect at least we would have a decent alternative should he go - and of course like the vast majority of united fans I dont want him to go, but I couldnt blame him and would wish him the best if he did decide to move on this summer (and we get a fee) - rather than potentially going on free next summer / signing a pre contract in Jan

Then you're a bit of an odd one.

Why? Because i would not accept "club is in a mess, defenders too" as blame free card,so he can leave with understanding? In the start when he joined,he was carried by defenders, now is his turn to carry them,100 % support from the fans from the day one too. Best part, people would understand if he leaves us,i see how some act towards Iker and he should be like some sort of legend there.

The one and only reason I think he might stay put would be to avoid the ludicrous circus at Madrid. He can have a relatively low key life here but will be under an insane amount of scrutiny in Spain. Depending on his personality type, that might be quite a compelling reason to stay in Manchester.

I'd be ecstatic if we got Bale, Although De Gea is very good at the end of the day he is replaceable. I'd happily sacrifice De Gea for Bale just as long as we don't get ripped of for once.

Ultimately if you put yourself in his position, and take away the bias from being a united fan which he wasn't, its a no brainer to move to real madrid.

The ONLY negative point the move carries for David, is that the British press give more protection to the leagues stars, whereas everyone is liable to be crucified in spain in organised witchhunts driven by behind the scenes agendas and fan pressure. He could turn up as casilias successor in a 30m+ move and if he starts poorly due to any number of valid reasons that can happen to any player, that costs madrid some points in a league that in recent times is separated by the finest of margins he could find himself dropped for periods and the pressure could be enormous.

With united it could be "better the devil you know".
