I don't care about his past, what has he done in football that gives you the impression he is ruthless?
I dunno, I'm not at his Mayfair office.
Look you have to have certain characteristics to do certain things. And in his position, you have to be ruthless. It doesn't matter if the business is football or banking - the same principles apply in terms of achieving your objectives. He's not going to suddenly change just because he's dealing with football business. Hope that makes sense..

Football is a different animal, so it doesn't make sense at all, I see Woodward as a fish out of water and nothing he has done yet has made me think differently.

If we forced him to see out his contract would he be able to sign for madrid at the end of it with their transfer ban?
Or would they be able to work around that?

Not suggesting forcing him to stay because ... feck him basically but we should bend madrid over a barrel if they want him.

Said a Utd fan to a Shels fan.

I guess he won't get it because Shelbourne are in the top 2 of the Irish League, and established players from that league are rarely good because they are part of those who are not good enough to even make the Irish national team.

Think it's time De Gea spoke out about it tbh. Should he decide to go, Sunday will be his last appearance in a Utd shirt at Old Trafford and he deserves a proper send off, regardless of this situation.
Proper send off? I hope the OT crowd boo the feck out of him if he announces he is leaving. I couldn't fecking care less about his feelings if he feels he is to leave us without giving us any bargaining chips regarding his fees. Feck him and feck Madrid. I hope the Earth opens up and swallows up their whole team, Ronaldo included.

On a side note, I am high as hell.

 !

Best news I've heard today.

It's not business for him though, is it? He wants to move primarily for family reasons, according to everything I've read.

We're actually offering him more money.
It is fecking business for him. If money was not a big factor, he would have signed a new contract and given us an upper hand while negotiating a fee with Madrid.

Both denied the transfer ban claims. I do think we should bend them over a barrel though. We should inquire about Carvajal being part of the deal, perhaps. Whilst we don't have much room to negotiate with De Gea having just a year left on his contract, I doubt Real want Casillas in goal for another year.

I've thought De Gea has been off for months, unfortunately.

Obviously not, it would defeat the purpose of banning transfers

They could of course just pick him up on a free if both were willing to wait 1-2 years later though

1) Marca & Daily Fail report De Gea has agreed personal terms with Madrid
2) LVG confirms he has a list of potential replacements in case De Gea fecks off
3) Some of us hopes he fails at Madrid and his girl dumps him
4) Most of us are pissed off he didn't sign an extension, thereby allowing the club that stood by his slippy arse when he started - to get a good fee, instead of the scrap Madrid will pick him up for and thereby adding insult to injury to our club:mad:
5) We hope United give the bullet to his greasy agent Mendes (unlikely to happen)

The top 2 divisions, yeah.

Can't really care if he leaves, enjoyed watching him and he's a great goalie but not irreplacable. Seems like a nice fella and if he wants to go back to Madrid he should do it. However I just voted yes in the poll, but then again I missed the rumours of him agreeing personal terms with Madrid until just now. It's all fairly confusing.

Anyway if he leaves, this would be the 12121257 time Jorge Mendes fecks us. When was the last time he actually did something for us? Always helping Madrid, always helping Mourinho, from Bebe to Nani, we always have to pay. He's a wanker. Best case scenario we'll end up with a 25 year old goalkeeper on ridiculous wages.
We should just stop doing business with him. In fact we should make clear to all playera who intend to join us that we won't sign them if Mendes os their agent. But then again, if you make your bed with the devil, you ultimately pay for it.

Tony Dunne came from Shelbourne didn't he?

Sorry for the double post. Having technical issues here...

Would make no sense to sell him this summer. We would get £30 million tops for him and that's pocket change to us these days. If Dortmund can afford to let Lewandowski join their main domestic rivals on a free why can't we do the same with De Gea when he is leaving the country?

I think the fee reported has been between £17 mil - £21 mil. The issue with keeping him would be if his performances drop. It's also better to get a fee of some sort to put towards the future keeper.

I agree. If they want him so badly, they should have to kiss our asses for it. Even so, we should be the ones holding the chips. We know about Madrid's upcoming transfer ban very likely to be struck on them, so we have to play that waiting game and then let the ban choke Real to death. By then, DDG would have no other choice but to sign a new contract for us. if Madrid still wants him after the ban, then they better start oozing a hell lot more money than what Juve paid to Parma for Buffon back in the days. If not, then they can just feck off somewhere else.

Tbh i'd threaten to let him rot on the bench for a season if it came to it (dont think i'd actually go through with it obv)
Just don't want to make it easy for them, give us a good price or bugger off.

Money is zero issue to us, I'd be happy enough to lose out on the £20m purely to make a point and be difficult.

I would certainly do that if it was a pl rival trying to take him

But it's different when it's abroad. The club need to get whatever they can for him

If not for the impending transfer ban I reckon Madrid would hold out one more season for him and get him on a free
