Day 4 | Romania Vs Ukraine | Belgium vs Slovakia | Austria vs France

If Austria didn't collectively turn into Danny Welbeck in the final third, they could go far in the tournament. Their midfield and defense are solid.

Anyone expecting more from France will be let down. This is basically their MO under Deschamps and they don't have Pogba to create a ton of those chances on the counter like they did. They'll be very difficult to break down which is why I think they are still favorites

Peak Pogba is a major loss for France, just gives that passing quality and imagination that they lack otherwise.

Seems like Mbappe brole his nose there. If he gets a mask for the remaining games, he'll really look like a Ninja Turtle

Muani, Dembele.. these aren't good enoughto be in that squad... Thuram is very limited too, but he's a handful and I think, think he knows what he can and cannot do..and I'm still not quite sure about their Centre Back partnership.

But they have a lot of quality and experience. When you have Camavinga, Tchouaméni and Giroud on the bench, then you're in a pretty good place.

The size, pace and strength of the French backline is ridiculous. Even when caught out their recovery is just so good, it'll take something really special to score against them

They're also massive diving, playacting, cynical cheats. That's a really dangerous combination

Sligtly more talented overall than England, miles difference in results.

A good deal more talented than England, actually, certainly in the past, England hasn't had bad results, they made the last Euro final, while France crashed and burned.

Not very impressive by France. Similar to England last night in the sense they weren't impressive. Austria were good it must be said though. Mbappe to miss the next game? His nose looked all kokds of messed up.

Well, they have the most talented squad by far, so...
It’s not that crazy in my opinion. If you take away Mbappe from that lineup, it’s not all that. Maignan, Upecamo, Kounde, Hernandez, Kante, Rabiot, Thuram, Dembele, these are players the other strong teams can match or better.

Deschamps is not a particulary good coach, despite results looking good on paper.

If you ignore his World Cup win, or his two world cup finals and a Euros final (which is silly, regardless of how much talent France have), he still won a Ligue 1 with Marseille and took Monaco to a Champions League final. He has to have something about him.

Bit one dimensional in attack I would think, when it works they will kill teams in transition but deny them that and they will be hoping for Mbappe or notoriously erratic Dembele to pull something out.
Exactly, these teams are hard to judge until they play stronger teams. Spain Vs Italy will be interesting.

Agreed. There is a reason that a lot of people myself included said he was France’s best overall player in the World Cup and it was because he was the creative fulcrum of that team. Dechamps knew that too which is why he gave him so much defensive support in there. Shame how it’s ended with him (even if he’s not popular on here). I imagine he’d still be first choice if available for France.

Much, much better CV than Southgate to say the least. But his teams are not exactly pretty.

They'll be a tricky team to play in the knock outs.

France doing the bare minimum to get wins in the group stages as ever.
Agree. They are for me team that have highest level but they don't get to it very often. Right now Germany and Spain have been best looking at "big" sides.

Hard to say. It can be difficult managing a squad full of overpaid players with a certain mentality.

We had a good match I think and even though we didn't really deserve a draw we deserved a goal I think. 2:1 france would be fair. We just had to score the chance in the first half, criminal that we didn't.

But the mentallity is top notch we just lack quality in front and we really miss Alaba. We should beat poland and we can beat netherlands. Shame we have such a hard group hope we can make it out somehow.

Is Alaba not in the squad?

Alaba was on the bench tonight. Don't know if he's in the squad or the staff.

Can remember Morientes being on loan from Madrid and knocking them out on route to the final, super fun team with Guily and Rothen in the flanks

Staff, had an ACL in November but had to get another surgery in May
He asked Rangnick to be part of the staff for the tournament
