Day 4 | Romania Vs Ukraine | Belgium vs Slovakia | Austria vs France

Deschamps is not a particulary good coach, despite results looking good on paper.
Yeah, a not particularly good coach that made France a constant force to be reckoned with, an absolute nightmare to play against, won a WC, a UEFA Nation League and reached two other major finals. He also took Monaco to their first and only CL final.

I understand people not liking his style of play which very much based on his years at Juventus and influenced by Jacquet's style. But France won all of its tournaments, bar maybe the Euro 1984, with basing their style first and foremost on a rock solid defensive set-up whilst letting mavericks up-front do the rest.

But this kind of braindead takes just does my head in. Anyone thinking that he's not a good manager, has either never watched his team or simply doesn't understand a single thing about football.

You could pickle a whole pig with the salt I produced yesterday. Since we are not completely shit anymore, I use to transform into a chauvinist asshole for 90 min. Another reason to overcome the concept of nations.
Rarely seen such an honest answer.

I understand where you're coming from and 90 minutes of chauvinist assholism are more than okay in my book, even if I don't dwelve in this kind of territory because of my much superior morals. I think that Rangnick got your team rolling and you can go quite far in this competition, with a bit of luck and if you don't lose focus.

France simply were a few levels above in terms of individual quality and there's no shame in losing to them.

I'm also okay with it. My chauvinism is fortunatly limited on screaming at my TV when I am home alone. When I am in a stadium I couldn't turn up in our colours, waving an austrian flag, or sing our very lame chant "Austria again and again". I'd feel guilty and dumb as bread doing that in front of other people. It's an outlet I allow myself until I reach the same superior moral heights as you do.

Yeah, I think our team is a well oiled machine, capable of going further than any other austrian team ever in the Euros (which is not excatcly a high bar).

Mattertwat calling Czechia the Czech Republic. Should really be doing better for the amount he's paid.

BBC had Czech Republic on their info graphics during the Georgia game and the commentator read it out the same. If there is anything wrong, maybe ask the BBC and ITV and not slam Matterface so hard as this is what is officially used.

He was probably never in contention, having not been capped before and only becoming one of ligue 1's top players as a late-bloomer but it's a shame France didn't take Savanier as a bench option instead of someone like Fofana. He always really impresses me when i see against Monaco or psg and his passing skill and vision would have given quite a different option as a substitute.
