Playing Eriksen instead of Bruno only makes sense is Bruno is not available or fit. Bruno is the superior player.
Modric and Kross quality is miles above Eriksen. There's no point in comparing them as their quality is so far apart.
I'm not saying Eriksen can't be useful, but he's not should be by any means a starter.
Eh, probably the most joy of any manager since Bobby Robson (if we’re referring to how far they progressed). But all in all, he does play it too safe, like Guardiola but nowhere near as good. Conservative football in a different way, and not political. I’d probably say that the best manager for England in terms of attractiveness of football in my lifetime would be Sven-Göran Eriksson. Pretty much every England fan would rate Eriksson over Southgate. I dunno, but Capello and Hodgson were decent at best as well. Allardyce only managed for one game, and McClaren failed to even qualify for a major tournament. I don’t know what England fans think of Kevin Keegan as manager.

Bruno may be fit all the time but he does often look burnt out when a big match arrives.
I’d not be against keeping Eriksen and managing Bruno better. He only needs to play 10-15 matches in a season.

Serbia are a decent side. Very good at the things that they’re good at. Not so good at the things they’re not.
They will be hard running, quick in transition and great from set pieces at both ends.

Yeah that’s what I was meaning. Although it ended it disappointment they still managed to go deep in those tournaments. I will acknowledge that Southgate didn't have to face as difficult opponents as Keegan, Eriksson, Capello, or Hodgson, although Southgate managed to beat Germany in Euro 2020.

I think this Serbia team will cause England plenty of issues, two decent CFs, SMS and Kostic up and down at wing back. With their height they'll cause issues from set plays.
Can see this being 2-2. England will have to be very good on the ball to win this game comfortably.

Completely agree with the Trent selection. He is on a level in terms of passing/crossing with Beckham and De Bruyne, maybe slightly behind the other 2. He's bloody brutal defensively, no doubt about that but he has goals and assists in abundance. Worth a shot!

It MAY work tonight. But I think it can ONLY work if Walker is in the side. His pace and space covering ability will help him out.
I don’t trust him in defensive transitions at all, and if the Serbians have an effective left hand side I think he may be replaced at some point. Big If.

Why are English pundits and media overrating players? Bellingham this, Rice that. Trent this, Saka that. Lot of players that are considered to be starting players would be lucky to sitt on bench for teams like Spain, Germany, France and maybe even Italy.

Mainoo and Wharton are better and safer midfielders. But it’s a big ask throwing them into a Euros opener tbf.
