Day 2 | Hungary vs Switzerland | Spain vs Croatia | Italy vs Albania

Does it have to be on the ground though? Not actually sure, I assume not

When the ball is kicked, the defending goalkeeper must have at least part of one foot touching, in line with, or behind, the goal line.

That is a citation, not my words

Carvajal looks way older than 32.

Croatia got schooled and they weren't even bad. Great game that.

He was slightly kicked. Rodri didn't said anything. He was scared to not get a red. Which he should have. I don't get that rule anymore
I am fine with it being a penalty but he could have played on instead of throwing himself to the ground.

Why wasn't Rodri sent off? I thought double jeopardy only came into effect if you make a genuine effort to play the ball.

Because Michael Oliver isn't just a corrupt little gobshite, he's also a mistifyingly shit ref

"In line with" part means it can be in the air, I understand. And that's how it is translated in Finnish at least, just checked.

That's, uh. Interesting lineup. Curious how they're going to set up. Chiesa wide right?

Could be a version of Inter's 5-3-2 with Chiesa up with Scamacca?

EDIT: Nevermind, looking at their lineup for the last game. No idea what this is either.

Nah. Di Lorenzo on the wing? Nah. Don't think so. Doesn't make sense

Should be 3-2-4-1(our base structure under Spalletti) turning into a flat 442 on defence

That Italian team is terrible. European football is really at its lowest level.

This. Ref's opinion was that Rodri went for the ball. Which is insane because he was nowhere near the ball.

Reckon this could be the game of the day given neither side is great

I can't imagine they'd start playing a diamond, but personnel-wise it does look suited for a diamond with Chiesa wider right, Di Marco pushing up on the left (since Bastoni and Calafori are left-footed anyways and Di Lorenzo likes to sit back) and just hope Pellegrini, Frattesi and Barella provide enough 2-way play and keep Jorginho from having to do anything but hit lovely passes. It worked for them well in 2012 when they made the finals with some meh starters (Abate, Montolivo, Cassano).

But I don't remember Spalletti really doing that a lot over his career, so who knows.

Would be suprised if Italy reach the semis. They need to be a great team, because their individuals are nothing compared to their teams of the past. They lack some proper quality, but lets see

Gary just about keeping it all together. With all the bad news this week along with his brother getting knocked out. I reckon he is doing well

Jeez, does Italy not produce world class players anymore?

I like Barella but the rest looks uninspiring. Chiesa feels hit and miss.

Put a few bucks on Bajrami to score first, though I have no idea who he is, based purely on the odds being friendly and he's a #10 and I might bet on anyone there against Jorginho to run clear of him and get a goal in every game until I win once and come out in the black.
