Day 2 | Hungary vs Switzerland | Spain vs Croatia | Italy vs Albania

Croatia desperately unlucky to not score today. Not that convinced by Spains display

That was the strangest sequence of events. Why was the goal not given? Why didn’t they retake the penalty as Unai was off his line? Why didn’t Rodri get a red if that was a penalty?

Wasn’t a penalty to begin with so I guess that’s cosmic justice.

Penalty box encroachment by attacking player

Why is everyone saying it should be a red card???
Do the Euro's not use the double jeopardy rule, or have people just forgot this rule exists?
Think it's more that it didn't look to be an attempt to win the ball by Rodri, in which case double jeopardy doesn't come into it. Also didn't look like a foul so guess it all worked out!

Double jeopardy requires the player to make a clear attempt to win the ball man, rather than a clear attempt to clip a players ankles.
Everyone saying it was a dive is missing how little an ankle tap requires.

It seems Petkovic hasn't improved from the World Cup days and is still a fecking moron.

Player involved was clearly encroaching. Goal rightfully disallowed.
Surely they could order a retake for the keeper being a mile off his line when saved it.

True, but the intensity and defensive attention is not the same when you win by 2 or 3 goals.

True.

Weird game really, Croatia have had spells of some really good play, then periods of inept stuff, Spain much more exciting than their possession heavy teams.

How has he not given a red if it was a foul?
How does he then also take away the goal without retaking the pen, when Simon was also off his line too quickly?

Would like to see the foul for the pen again, seemed like there was some contact to put him off and worthy of a pen but the Croatian made sure it of it to kick the ground and fall over.

On the one hand, he makes no attempt to play the ball. On the other hand, he doesn't actually even challenge, just takes a long step and then the attacker hits Rodri's leg and falls like a piece of crap. And on the othet other hand Spain's next game is against Italy

Should've been a red, fecking Oliver and his garbage bin heart needs to be fired into the sun :mad::mad::mad:

Can’t tell much about Spain off the back of this game. It’s been a glorified friendly for the most part.

Not sure if it’s the same for everyone but the on-screen graphics are either very delayed or incorrect across almost all the games so far. When a goal is ruled out, the score doesn’t update immediately, sometimes the goal is given but to the wrong team and the added time isn’t displayed until 1-2 mins into added time.

The angle of the replay wasn’t great but the idea that he dived midway through pulling his foot back to tap it into an empty net is pretty bizarre. Fairly sure Rodri kicks his left leg to knock him off balance and then it looks like a tug of the arm as well to ensure he can’t get the shot off. Absolutely crazy decision not to send him off.
