Day 13: Costa Rica vs. England

Now the emotion is out of the World Cup, the original analysis that Sturridge can't be relied upon has never been more evident than it is now.

Jones is not a right back, I do wish managers would stop pretending that he is.

I love what Townsend said at Barkley's foul: "The referee should let that go!"

Man United fans saying Rooney isn't the problem, rest of England saying he is. What should an outsider believe?

A lot of the best things that we have done in this cup have come from Rooney. He is still our best player

Jones looks and plays like a cart horse nowadays

Not a pen for me, bad touch by Sturridge should of taken it on his right. The defender got in front and shielded the ball and Sturridge just tried to kick through him.
That's just Sturridge's one-footedness yet again getting him found out at international level.

Was nowhere near the ball. Awful touch and an even worse challenge. Could have seriously hurt the keeper

The ball was moving when it came to him though, according to the commentators. Those who can control a football with their first touch are called footballers. Those who cannot are called English footballers.

now that dick townsend is slagging of the Dutch! three wins ou of three including dismantling the world champions is obviously not good enough. Send them home!

So much for the pre-tournament bullishness about Liverpool were basically competing in this tournament not England. Sturridge has been dire throughout. If it wasn't for Rooney we'd have scored no goals.

Between Jones' donkey like approach to football and Smalling treating the ball like it's made of Ebola virus, who do we go with at centre half from now on?

You seem to be completely glossing over Sturridge and Johnson's contribution to Rooney's tap in against Uruguay.

I must be the only one that doesn't rate Lallana that highly by the way. Another terrible decision.

Hummells.

Oh yeah, I forgot Glenn Johnson tackled someone and it ricocheted for Rooney. Succesful world cup for him.

It's amazing how average England players look outside of their own league

Agreed. But we do have the basis of a decent side for the next Euros. Unusually for England most of our best potential now is in attack. Tough to see where the defence for the Euros is coming from.
