Day 1 | Germany vs Scotland

Honestly, this is basically the international equivalent of Real Madrid vs 2024 Manchester United. I hate the fact that my country’s team as well as the two clubs that I support are shite. It doesn’t help with my depression.

Get a grip ffs

United just beat City. Scotland are just turning in one of the worst performances at this competition in history.

Bizarre comparison to throw out.

Nor if you weren’t down to 10 men too, to be honest

For us yeah. But he's one of Scotland's more valuable players because of his ability to get on the end of things in the box.

He just doesn't offer much outside of that, so you're always half a man down with him there.

It is a constant source of bemusement that Scotland hasn't produced even a good championship standard forward or striker in what seems like decades.
I could say the same about Portugal bar Ronaldo.

Yeah yeah it wasn't a general comment, just tonight. But a seriously shocking performance, especially considering the occasion.

We always get way too emotional before games and then leave none of it for when the game actually kicks off. It's cool being in this first game but worst thing for us really.

Germany have taken it too easy now. They should push for 6-7 goals here

I wonder if Scotland will manage a shot on (or off) target tonight.

I'm thinking not. What a boringly one sided game.

Yikes. This has got to be one of the most one-sided Euros matches in history. Even before the penalty and red. Scotland have barely had any meaningful possession, let alone a shot on goal.
Spain Slovakia was worse from memory, 5 nil and Morata missed a peno.

You still have a fair shot in the other two games. Germany will probably comfortably beat them too, so my guess you need at least 4 points from those games which is doable.

I agree but I'm worried how much this will take it out of us, especially how bad we have been. Ideally you'd want to play the other game and get a win to give you that confidence boost.

Scotland really is a shit country. Shit at everything.

I've been watching football for 25 years and I've never seen a Scottish team that was good or even passable.

I know it's a small country but Wales, NI and Ireland have all had good sides in my lifetime. I don't understand why Scotland are so consistently poor.

Yeah. You could see it in Robbo's eyes just before the match, not that I'm blaming him for this shitshow.
That being said, maybe we'll get all the emotion and the fear out of the system in this match and go on and do well.

It's been nice watching the rugby team of late. They've managed to shrug off the "poor little Scotland", always the victim mentality and actually be good. Sadly football is still run by mouth breathers.

Have Wales, NI or Ireland beaten Spain? It's a bad game by Scotland but they're playing against Germany, the hosts in the opener. They will be better next match.

They need to start getting more english cast off's to play for them.
