@OptaJoe: 2018 - Davinson Sanchez was the only player in the Eredivisie last season to play more than 2000 successful passes (2018). Composure.

So is this player going to be first choice or back up to the first 3 CBs?

@GlastonSpur

Cant see this guy getting in ahead of Alderweirld, Vertonghen or Dier who are vastly superior footballers. I know it's been said a lot in this thread but Sanchez looked awful in the Europa final, clearly out of his depth (as were the majority of that Ajax team). Think he's simply being brought to add squad depth, makes sense I guess since they do lack in that department.

Yeah don't think he will get into first team directly, just asking Spurs fans opinion.

He wasn't that bad in EL final but he wasn't good on the ball. He was poor against Lyon though.

I don't expect him to be thrown into the starting XI straight away, but I think the eventual plan is to deploy him as the RCB (instead of Dier) in a back 3 (Sanchez, Alderweireld and Vertonghen), as this is our favoured formation.

This would mean that Dier will duke it out with Wanyama, Dembele and (to a lesser extent) Winks for a CM slot.

No PL experience, something without which every player is not good according to Spurs fans on this forum.

Having some PL experience is obviously better than none, all else being equal, but I don't recall any Spurs fans arguing against signing any players from outside the Prem. And the lack of PL experience by itself is a silly reason for predicting that a player will flop.

It's already starting to crack with Danny Rose, your better players are gonna want a bigger piece of the pie. You can't value a player at £100m then pay him a £25m player wage and get away with it for long.

And they can get it, when our new stadium income starts to come on stream in less than 12 months from now. Or rather they can get the same proportionate piece of a much bigger pie.

It's all in hand ;)

That extra money will be paying your debt in 12 months time.

Only the lesser part of it. Our income is on course to increase by somewhere between 40 - 50%, which will allow for much greater flexibility when it comes to wages.

From what I understand, the new stadium will have a capactiy of 60k. What are the chances of you filling that stadium, or, failing that, how close would you expect to get?

We have around 20k on waiting list to get a season ticket. We will fill the stadium no problem at all.

Fair enough.

He actually looks a decent signing, I was a bit surprised when Jose singled him out because for me he looked by far their best defender. Besides you have some quality centre backs anyway he should be given time to settle in.

I don't understand where this is coming from, he looks like a beast to me: 6 goals, 2 assists, 85% passing accuracy. On this video he makes so many good forward runs, plays in so many good balls, long range passes that are very accurate, some really nice ball touches aswell.

I really don't understand how anyone can say he is poor on the ball. The other day someone was saying he makes Smalling look like Beckenbauer, honestley I don't get this place sometimes.

The issue is that his passing fluctuates between teammates brilliant and abysmal.

Yeah remarkabley we have sold 40K season tickets for Wembley so fill the New Lane shouldn't be a problem at all.

Young player consistency will always be a problem.

His attitude stinks and i'm sure if he performs well and Barca come calling, he'll be calling strike once more.

Lol .... he only signed a few hours ago, and already he's been added to the annually-predicted mass exodus of Spurs players.

I remember this guy as being a physical beast but slightly headless chicken from the final last year. Probably similar to the likes of Mangala. Rio he ain't. Very young though.

The fact that defenders lead the Eredivisie in passes every season shows an underlying issue in Dutch Football right now.

In an absolute best case scenario perhaps. What is all the guaranteed extra income?

Filling out a 60k all seater stadium on a regular basis would be quite impressive and would put you comfortably above most teams in the country attendance wise (including City :devil:)

Copied from a post I made fairly recently elsewhere:

* Ticket sales (74% increase in stadium capacity)
* Merchandising (from many more visitors to the stadium)
* Corporate 'boxes'
* Stadium naming rights (the club is aiming for £400m over 20 years)
* Income from non-football entertainment events (multi-purpose stadium)
* Income from the NFL.
* Increased income from sundry other sources (e.g. the greatly expanded number and range of restaurants and cafes, extreme sports centre, sky walk, etc. etc).

That's without factoring in later planned developments - hotel, housing and more.

Not heard anything about his attitude "stinking". He rejected Barca last summer to go to Ajax to earn less money and play more football. Seems like he's got his head screwed on. He got a warm send off from Ajax as well. What has he done that implies he has a bad attitude?

Imagine bidding 25m for Martial, a world class prospect, then in the next breath shelling out 42m for an unknown quantity.

Failed logic.

Failed belief in media click-bait stories more like.

PS. Isn't Sanchez seen as a world-class prospect? I don't know, but I get the impression that he is. Barca wanted him.

Could you put that in numbers rather than ambiguous statements that carry no guarantee? Extra ticket sales are expected to generate £28m per year. Let's be generous and say you'll get your £20m a year for the stadium name. That's less than £50m per year. A few extra hot dogs and stuff isn't going to cover a 5 year £400m loan and interest along with the £100m already borrowed and give much left over for higher wages. Not in 12 months time anyway.

Imagine bidding 25m for Martial when Inter want 50-60m for the likes of Candreva and Perisic :lol:

I can only imagine how much Levy would ask for Rose, after buying a CB from Holland for 42m pounds. :lol:

Hopefully we won't find out this window.

We are a big "old" club, obviously recently we have not the silverware we should. But we are not a "plastic" club and always had a big following.

Did you not claim in the Martial thread that you had an "ITK" hand feeding you information on the proposed Martial to Spurs deal?

Don't know enough about the guy to form a judgement in fairness, only got to see him play once and he was extremely suspect in that game.

With Barca recent record at buying 'world class prospects' in defence I wouldn't be over the moon about it.

Sanchez is a good player (from what I saw in EL) but far from world class and still pretty raw. It's a gamble and you guys are definitely going for 3 at the back as I can't see him being close to Toby or Vertongen at the moment.

Where do you get the extra £28M from match day from? We're
Doubling our capacity? Our match day receipts are currently only £45M. Naming rights, much more corporate space, NFL franchise and more entertainment events will boost revenue. We will still be way behind United but as much as I have to say it, the old WHL really did hold us back financially.

No. I said that Martial's agent was touting him around because the player wants out. I said nothing about Spurs.
