Cant see him coming to England. As he says, he's made his mind up. Latest rumour about where his mind was on, was Madrid. Barcelona are in the driving seat with their bid, he's known to want to stay in Spain and supposedly wanted to go to Madrid... And then signs for Liverpool. Cant see it. Especially as Chelsea were virtually told to F. off when they tried to talk about a deal, told that Madrid were in advanced talks.
I can't imagine a club that is on the brink of going tits up would fund a 60m spending spree, and even if they could raise the money selling players they would still need to spend further cash replacing the only 2 players that other teams want to buy, Alonso and Mascherano. So there's no point selling the 2 midfielders and replacing them with a forward and a right back.

Tends to be that while Villa excels in a national side with Torres next to him up front, Torres is always put in the shade.
His hat trick the other day is the first time I've seen Torres play anything like his Liverpool form for Spain/next to David Villa. Chances are though it will be the one time it happens during the confederations cup.
Villa and Torres would score loads of goals for Liverpool and I'm sure overall it would mean Liverpool have strengthened their front line, but I dont think Torres would be anywhere near his best.
If Villa went to Liverpool they would have the best strikeforce in the Prem, possibly the world. Add to the fact they have a better midfield then us. This would be very worrying indeed.

I can't see how Liverpool can possibly compete with either of the two Spanish clubs when it comes to signing Villa; neither financially, geographically or reputation wise.

Well, Rafa did almost come in his pants as he told the whole world that he was going to break the club's transfer record, a couple weeks back.
Of course, that statement was just as much about United's transfers as his own - as is always the case with Fatty.
Benitez, Torres, Alonso, Reina, Rieira, Arbeloa etc etc
Torres and Alonso are the only 'coups' out of that list though, and Torres said (if i recall correctly) that he wouldn't play for any other team in Spain than Athletico and I don't recall there being any competition for Alonso at the time either.
Even if Liverpool had managed to get some kind of cheaper deal than the 45m that's been touted around they would have to pay 30m minimum to get Villa and I really can't see them being able to afford that.
