What the feck were we doing giving Giacherrini that free header. Sure he is tiny, but no player should be allowed to just have a free header with no player within a 5 yard radius of him in the penalty box. That save was , save of the season so far.

Glorious save. We might say Januzaj won us the match, but De Gea made sure we didn't lose it.

Getting fecking sick of commentators refusing to praise him without some mention of his admittedly dodgy first few months at United. After his wonder save today, the guy on Sky immediately made mention of how he struggled when he first got here.

Getting visions now of him saving a penalty in the CL final to win it for us, and the commentator immediately going "yeah, but he let that long range Dzeko shot in once, didn't he?"

They want a narrative. De Gea rising triumphantly from his nervy start, taking the blows, getting his head down and becoming one of the best sounds like the script of a bad Hollywood movie, and Sky love that shit. They'll do everything they can to write it that way because it makes it more "dramatic". In a perverted way, we should actually be pleased - it means they've acknowledged that he's brilliant.

I thought it was an excellent save but Sky are going overboard about it. How times change eh?

Brilliant save. Won us the match. I've felt sorry for him recently because he's absolutely had no chance with the goals we've conceded.

Save of the Premier League so far. fecking ridiculous.

This, I honestly couldn't criticize any effort he made towards the goals he has let in. He has almost ironed out all the problems he used to have now. Better communication with his CBs and he will be one of th ebest.

Giaccherini.

Crazy, crazy save.

Please Please don't ever let him go

We just have to hope Barca decide to go with someone else. He's not going to turn them down considering our situation at the moment and the current difference between the two clubs.

I still can't believe he saved that. Was watching the Monchengladbach game today and I do think ter Stegen is an even better keeper and the one Barca will go for, but it does seem somewhat inevitably he'll go back. Maybe if Atletico establish themselves as title challengers?

De Gea using his feet too much was taken to a new level today with that corner though. Completely mental.

At the end of his career his highlights reel will be immense. He keeps pulling off these stunning reaction saves. Great keepers earn you points you don't always deserve, and De Gea looks on track to be one of them.

This guy is saving our ass at the minute. Van Persie and Rafael were brilliant last season. Rooney and Vidic have started well this season, etc etc. If I were to pick a player who has been performing at the highest standard since the beginning of the 11/12 season (De Gea's debut season with his difficult start), it would be David De Gea without thinking twice. He is just so fecking good it's unbelievable. I hope he stays with us forever.

I disagree, I think he did well to get any part of his body on that after the punch failed slightly.. no other goalkeeper would have and I'm not sure how it can be criticized.

Maybe not clearing the ball in the first place (though all keepers can struggle with those at times) but managing to get something extra on it was great.

I love how Schmeichel has backed him since the start. Goalkeepers need support and our club stood by him in those few months he took to adapt. Phenomenal keeper. Glad to say I've been following him since he was 17.

Whenever i watch Cardiff city games, David Marshall keeps making these type of saves...

Him and DDG the best 2 of the league?

The difference between good goalies and great one is the mental aspect. At Cardiff they will get pelted with shots. At United he just has maybe 2-3 shots to save. Its the concentration factor. So its tough to compare the Cardiff goalie yet.

True that. Marshall's a natural shot stopper, like De Gea, but lacks the schooling you only get training with the best trainers and playing for a big team.

I was exaggerating a bit... but he is having a great season though. In my top 3 of the season so far. Well see if he can keep it up.

He's world class. Easily one of the top 5 in the business at the moment and will only get better over time.
