So, Victor Valdes has let Barca know that he'll not renew his contract that expires in the summer of 2014.
With his stand in being 37 I bet it won't take long until they come knocking.

I wouldn't want us to sell as I think he's already a fantastic shot-stopper and definitely has the potential to be the best in the world, but would the club sell him if Barca offered more than we paid for him?

Not a chance we would sell him for what we paid. It would take a very good offer before we should start to think about letting him leave.
Good chance he wouldn't want to go as well based on what I've been told of the Spanish rivalries and his boyhood club

De Gea ticks a lot of the desired boxes but I think he doesn't play the ball with his feet well enough for us. Plus he'd be too expensive, assuming he'd be available anyway
You've obviously not seen him enough, thats probably his best quality along with his shot stopping. He's so composed and his distribution is amazing.
Other than the obvious exception of Robin van Persie, De Gea is my favorite signing in recent history. I was over the moon when we signed him, if we lose him so soon I'm going to have to kill a puppy or something.
If we sold him all the gimps who've been putting him down the last couple years would all be proclaiming how amazing he is and how we've turned into a feeder club.
Barcelona will probably target Reina instead. Cheaper option and would be easier to sign.
I'm baffled as well with that statement. He's one of the best out there in terms of passing, footwork etc. and he will be even better before long. Would have expected better from FCBarca
I've watched him, arguably, longer than you have - even before you even heard of the player. It's a question of fit, his ball skills may appear superlative for your team's needs but that's not the same thing as being enough for how a Barcelona keeper has to play the ball out from the back

Sorry FCBarca but even I could a decent job in goal for Barcelona if I had the midfield's Valdes has had in recent years. Possession being the best form of defence and all that.
