For me, I HOPE he stays for his career to tell the truth, has he ever spoken much of his plans for future?

Yea obviously if he develops to his full potential, we could be sorted for 15 years if he stays his career.

But just get a feeling that because he is Spanish and came to England at very young age, he might feel like going back sometime in future. Not everyone is the same though but I get the feeling with DDG.

Don't think he has spoken much about his future and can't really expect him to so early imo.

Few players ever leave United in that fashion, even fewer do so and find success elsewhere; there's no reason to believe DDG will be one of them. Stop worrying your little heads about it.

It's not a myth. It's literal truth. Undisputable.

Wow, fair enough, I stand corrected. You must have some pretty strong evidence for this immutable fact, would you mind sharing it?

Do you read RAWK? For the most part their assessment of their own players seems accurate; far more in-depth, up-to-date and informed than anything you get from a commentator or MOTD pundit.

When it comes to club politics, delusions of grandeur or conspiracy theorising, RAWK is fecking mental, but in regards to proper analysis of the playing aspect of the game they're clued-up and know their players inside out.

Yes I read RAWK, I find they over-rate a lot of their own players (and manager for that matter) dramatically. That's true for pretty much every fan forum for a particular side though.

No doubt in a few years when he wins a few things with United, He will come out with "Dream of playing for Barca".

He will want to go back to Spain, there is not doubt about it and understandable.

5-6 years I hope he stays at least.

Why would he dream of playing for Barca if he's an Atletico fan? Weird thing to say.

him being spanish doesn't mean he dreams of playing for real madrid or barca. i thought i remember him saying that he would one day return to atletico during his last press conference there just after agreeing a move to united. well, he can return there in 15 years time.

Reina seems to like Liverpool well enough.

As long as he makes friends, learns the language and continues to excel I hope he'll stay here for his career.

Of course there is doubt.

Reina is an example and even moreso, Fernando Torres, also an Athletico fan that has never wanted a return to Spain.

I think it's pointless and impossible basically to try to predict if he'll wanna go back to Spain to play for one of the two giants even if there's a strong interest.

With Reina, Madrid have had Casillas who is from Madrid and very good and Barca have had Valdes who are both roughly the same age. If DDG gets to anywhere near his potential and there is no obvious replacement for either then I'd expect both to be sniffing around.

If it comes to DDG being one of the top 3 keepers around at say 27 with 10 years left in him then it may be in all parties interest for him to go to Madrid/Barca for megabucks.

A move for DDG by any club when he's 27 is probably not going to happen. The asking price would be so prohibitive that no one would even bother. Top goalkeepers seldom move clubs unless they are moving from a small club to a top one ala VDS.

He's here and he's staying unless SAF thinks he's not worth the bother.

Not sure if it's just me but I felt he should have done better with the 2 goals conceeded yesterday. Just felt the 2 goals are save-able.

Yes its just you. Did you go to Vidic and Evans' thread and say the same thing? I didnt think so. How is it only De Gea's fault? There was no chance in hell he could have come for it and Collins got two free headers. I don't see you blaming the defense for it.

Yeah right, he of all people could have done better... Some posters and their stupid agendas!!

He had no chance with both, they were preventable if the defence had done their job.

I reckon some of us have become a bit paranoid with De Gea and are almost looking for mistakes

Watch the replays again and pretend its Lindegaard in the goal, you come up to same conclusion then? If so, go check your eyes or stop drinking :wenger:

With De Gea he seems to instinctively know whether he is going to get to the ball or not, either he pulls of a spectacular save or leaves it because he knows he has no chance.

With both goals yesterday, he knew he was no where near either of them.

The guy's had 2 free headers under little pressure and been lucky(ish) with where they went. If they had been anywhere near close to De Gea, he'd have saved them.

I think that's why some people (one?) criticise him because he didn't even move for the headers, which makes some (one person?) think that they were savable because he didn't try to stop them. Whereas in reality he could not stop either goal.

Thought it was a combination of the defence not squeezing out a couple more yards and the lack of a height we had in midfield. Never DDG fault in a million years.

What does this have to do with my post? Have you just proven beyond reasonable doubt that DDG WILL return to play in Spain?

It would've taken cat like reflexes for him to save those headers. Saving from shots inside the box that come from players who aren't marked, with the ball coming in from a cross...probably the hardest thing for a keeper. If you look at some of the top saves from the 20 seasons list, quite a few were hit towards the middle of the goal and still regarded as some of the best ever.

Goals were extremely defendable but barely saveable.

Yeah, I think that DeGea is pretty innocent where it comes to the two goals yesterday. Both powerful well placed headers.

I'd swear, if de Gea let in a goal in the same vein as Ronaldo vs. Porto, people would still find it in them to criticism him.

It's the type of silly nit picking nothing criticism that some people love to make about some of our players. DDG and Evans seem to be the two at the moment to receive the most attention. There's a post in another thread saying Evans was dominated by Cole even though he wasn't on him. Some people really either don't watch the game and spout shite a'la RTE panel or don't know anything at all about football.

If you think DDG should or could have saved those you really need to watch them back and possibly try to imagine the speed the ball was moving from close range.

Not a chance with the goals yesterday. Anyone who says otherwise is out to get him as much as the press

Pepe Reina undermines the whole article. Fergie is fed up with the error prone keeper - he's thinking of replacing him with someone even more prone to errors!

Yeah it's bullshit, Fergies always said he expected him to have a few teething problems when he came over but he's coming to terms with the physicality more and more. Would be a strange decision to give him the boot now.

Sigh. So annoying people can just write whatever they want, it gets published, tons of people read it and some actually believe it.

Did you see the photo caption? Said de Gea watched the ball go in over his head.

Do these people even watch the games? Or do they genuinely decide to print whatever bollocks they feel like?
