Global media conspiracy working against De Gea again - the BBC, all newspapers in the United Kingdom, ESPN's US commentary team, now Sky Sports have been corrupted by it. Who's next?

Saying Ben Foster is more reliable than De Gea is hilarious. The guy was always injured and left Old Trafford because he couldn't cope with the pressure.. FFS

Apparently the club is too big for De Gea as well :wenger:

They talk about him as if he'll never improve, he's 22, won the UEFA Cup, Euro U21's and generally talked about as one of the most talented keepers coming through (certainly in Spain anyways).

He already showed us last season that he's capable of putting in consistent performances over a good amount of time. One mistake against Newcastle and he's suddenly shit again, it makes no sense.

The problem is I bet Fergie drops De Gea today so they'll think they're justified in their comments

So which part of saying the crowd was on his back, he's solely to blame for the defensive crisis, we should sign Shay Given/Begovic for the Champions League and that Ben Foster is more reliable was not complete bollocks?

The problem is that all these pundits and media outlets listen to each other and after a poor first impression it ended up as a consensus that he's not a good goalkeeper and that has gone into feedback. He does make occasional individual errors (no more than any other keeper in the league btw) and can be shaky on crosses, but the lad is 22 and improving ffs

Seriously? How do these guys even get these pundit jobs? :wenger::wenger:

They used to play football. You'd think being former professionals they would know something about football but evidently not, unless they are all being intentionally thick. A bunch of people on a Internet forum should not seemingly know more than former players.

Well, we watch every United game. They don't.

I don't think the Sky Sports lads are being intentionally thick, they just are. They just make their opinions on the spot and don't do research- it's all based on emotion and what their mates say.

I do think the journalists and newspaper pundits have agendas though, they need to get as much attention as possible.

So Fergie retains DDG. Hopefully that'll stop the he's dropped bollocks after every match. Looks like he has decided on DDG being no.1.

He has started 5 games in a row now so Fergie has stopped with the rotation policy of the goalkeepers for now.

Aye, Lindegaard should start vs. West Ham in FA Cup now, so good choice, Fergie, to wait with your rotation two more games.

Nothing will stop that. The press and pundits have an opinion on him and no matter what he does, they won't change that opinion (just like Rafael still can't tackle).

Anyway, good SAF seems to have gone with DDG as #1 and cut out the rotation policy for PL games. Imo if he stops the rotation policy and sticks with DDG for the non-cup games, then we'll reap the rewards long-term.

More rumblings in the press today about De Gea moving to Real at the end of the season to relace Casillas. Anytime Real gets linked with one of our players, it makes me nervous. Hope there's nothing to it.

Looked very nervy on a few high balls again yesterday.

I just can't see the De Gea to Real rumours been true, we paid almost £19m for him & don't believe that they would pay the required fee for a GK especially when they have the current Spanish number 1 who isn't that old for a keeper. Casillas is also a product of their youth and a club legend the Real fans can be quite protective of these type of players and i'm not sure they would take to kindly to him been replaced at this stage of his career by a Atletico boy.

Don't see him moving to Real due to his links with Atletico and also I don't see anyone dethroning Casillas until he retires.

It's probably just a silly rumour after Casillas being dropped last weekend for the first time in a decade.

If he had been playing for Villa, I doubt they'd have shipped as many goals as they have recently. I think with our defence in front of him, he'd be a revelation.

I've got a bad news for you, he is dropped because Lambert thinks he is shit.

He won't go to Real. However when Valdes leaves I'd expect Barca to make a move for him. His distribution being the vital factor.

You can't be serious. The way we've been defending, we'd concede even more. Given is past his best mate. Sorry.

His distribution is appalling, high balls a disaster as well.

I hope you're not talking about De Gea here...

If it's Given you're referring to... carry on. He's a poor 'keeper. Always has been.

Hes past his best now, but he was once in the top 10 in the world.

You must be completely ignorant of football outside of man united to come out with such a statement.

Whatever you say....

He's always been a wonderful shot stopper but his command of the area and organisation has always been mediocre. It's the reason why no big club ever went for him and when they did (if you wanna count City) they replaced him with a very young and inexperienced Joe Hart.

He was always well suited to Newcastle (and Ireland for that matter) because he was always kept busy.
