Because he's had a shaky start with United. Once that happens, it always leaves a doubt in people's minds and it takes a long term to rectify that.
I think that it's a similar case in regards to Rafa too. He's been brilliant for a long time now, yet he still doesn't get nearly enough recognition from the 'pundits'.

I guess that they'll both have to have a stormer against Madrid to gain they're approval..

I don't mind that people disagree with me about the parry, it's a debatable point, I'd never say that everyone who disagrees with me on a point like that is too biased to make a judgement, that would be absurd. I'd be happy to just agree to disagree on a point like that, the amount of abuse as a result of criticism is, however, a result of a disturbing lack of objectivity when it comes to De Gea.

You get abuse in this thread because you're endless with unfair criticism of someone you clearly don't really rate. We get it, you don't think De Gea is as good as most of us think he is, just quit fecking going on about it, and quit trying to find mistakes to try and prove you're right to not rate him as highly as most.

And Merry Christmas.

It will be interesting who Sir Alex plays against Ronaldo. Rafa? Jones? Smalling? Hope all our defenders are fit for that one.

The criticism of De Gea has certainly calmed down to almost silence now in the media.

At the start it was as if any ball into the box was a goal.

I also think Lindegaard's display against Reading has quietened the people who favoured him over De Gea.

It's about time we stuck with De Gea and gave him all the games bar occasionally. You don't rotate your goalkeepers!

Rafael, if fit. If not, Jones. Smalling should only ever play right back when we don't have the other two available.

2.1 meter then.

I'm not sure about that. That would make him approx 6 feet 5 inches wouldn't it? He's not that tall I wouldn't have thought.

He's not short though. He's pretty much the same height as Anders..

Looking again, a few more good matches for De Gea and he could statistically be the best keeper in the top leagues in europe this season. Currently averages 7.17 to Adler's 7.24.

Obviously these numbers only mean so much if he's fumbling crosses, but he hasnt been. And I think the numbers reflect how much good work he does especially with shot stopping and for the most part with his distribution.

Was someone really arguing that De Gea should have done better in Swansea goal?

Or it is only that is cool to say it is De Gea fault for every goal we concede?

Yes, I'll admit it, I was only doing it so I would be cooler and more popular.

If he's going to parry the ball so much he needs to work on parrying it into less dangerous areas.

In optimal conditions I'd expect better, in pissing of rain, I'm sure most keepers put that in the same area tbh.

At least you have a point today. Doesn't make your post from the Swansea game any less retarded though and that will be shown by the fact that most will agree with you today I suspect, he could've done better.

It honestly was shit keeping from him.Really disappointed he couldn't better with that Ba's shot

Agreed - once you decide to parry, you need to make sure you are parrying it to safety.

The shot at the weekend was a reflex shot so he couldn't control where it ended.

This was different.

Should've done a lot better. Couldn't tell on my shit stream, but I thought he could have actually held onto the shot without parrying it. Maybe the conditions played a part, but I expected him to do a lot better.

No one is saying that - they are simply saying that he should have done better.

I know, he should have done better. Carrick should be the main culprit here though, losing possession like that is unacceptable. We all know De Gea is capable of doing better than that, but it's not exactly a howler.

Cost us the game. Sell him

Agreed, from his beard and shit hair to his pathetic ability. Has he ever really shown us what he is capable of? Ok fine, he has pulled off some brilliant saves and is young and has all the potential in the world but he is just a hairy version of Barthez and that didn't end too well did it? I hope we get a decent amount for him from the summer because he should never play for us ever again ever.

Sure.

I havent been pro and shit but is it really taught to goalkeepers to parry away the ball to safety? Isn't this something which comes to them naturally? It must be so difficult to teach and learn that.

Orton, specifically ... the Carrick reference was the clue. FWIW I thought that with the Swansea one, he might have done a bit better too. Its not just DdG though that has problems with parrying. 'Our Hart' is the biggest culprit.

Anyway, I was just curious to see the posting going on here ... not had the chance to watch many United games lately ... sat link is broken carrying the feed for today's game. Got Sun-City of Nor-Chelsea.

You've been waiting for him to make a mistake before posting in here, haven't you?

Nahh ... just saw the goal at HT and thought I'd check in to see what the usual suspects were on about. I'm past caring tbh. He's a good keeper that is getting better and has the potential to get even better though he has his flaws.

Also, if you were really observant I didn't actually have a go at DdG in my first post, but rather a typical poster who has been consistent on this subject.;)
