As I said earlier the defending needs to help him out, particularly on crosses. This game should give him confidence and knowing he'll be #1 with Lindegaard out should allow him to settle back into the team knowing he's playing every week.

Great save, we just need to work on the crosses and he'll be world class in no time. I think people forget how hard it is to play behind a very unsettled different back four, especially coming into a new team. I think if we played a consistant back four all season he would be being talked about as the best goalie in the league.

Much better today. People keep talking about how costing us games. Well, today it was the other way round. He saved us from defeat.

His physique is not that far off from VDS. He is either lacking confidence or courage because there were many occasions he could have easily claimed a cross or corner if he went for it with full determination and conviction.

it wasnt as if he started the other side of the goal, he was very well positioned and was a good save. But if he was taller like many other keepers that save defiantly wouldn't look so dramatic.
I actually missed the save from Mata's freekick. As soon as I saw how far he'd moved to his right side, I was certain it would go in the top corner, so I covered my eyes. When I heard they hadn't socred I thought Mata must have placed it towards the centre. Unbelievable footwork from De Gea to cover that much ground so quickly. He did the same thing against Arsenal in our 8-2 win, when they played it across the box and he managed to get across to cover the shot.

This guy is going to be one of the greats in the game. Maybe not now, and yes he is going to make big mistakes, but feck me, for his age he is so good. He is going to win us championships in the future no doubt about it. We just have to ride the highs and lows until he gets used to our league, and learns more. Ferguson is right, this guy really has a talent that just needs to be harnessed and worked on. I reckon he will be better than schmikes and be a legend at our club.
He played mind games with Mata, I saw it too, I do it at times and fail to get back, you show something before the kick, then you try to be central when his eyes goes to the ball.
When the freekick came, I thought that was the winner right there, then my heart sunk into my balls when I saw his position at first, I thought he was just lost.

Yeah he's put in a few great performances and points winning saves this season. As with Foster, all that gets forgotten about when he makes a bunch of mistakes as people try to re-write history. Hopefully De Gea has the mentality to continue performing well despite this.
