That was a fecking ridiculous save.

Unbelievable, it wasn't one of those flash one's that keepers do sometimes to look good either. There was real pace on the ball and he had to stretch to get it, but by God did he get it!

Great couple of saves but let's be honest, it's not that part of his game that's looked ropey in his short career with us so far. There are other areas he has to work on which will be the making of him.

When Mata was lining up that freekick I thought it looked like De Gea had left far too much of the goal to his left. I still don't now how he got across to it! Unbelievable save.

If that's how he plays when his confidence is rock bottom. I bet his critics will hate to see him when he's flying.

Still some work to be done but his potential is undeniable. Some of those saves were just breath taking.

Great performance today. He had that one dodgy punch (so did Cech but who's going to bring that up ) but other than that was exceptional.

WOW. One of the best saves that I have ever seen. It an abstract moment kind of like that Ronaldo free kick against Portsmouth, in my mind it was a goal all the way from when he struck the ball and then it wasn't.

Brilliant.

Cech's kicking was piss poor but strangely the commentators neglected to mention it.

He's unfazed, love his mentality

My thoughts too. Great leap and reflexes for what was an inch perfect freekick by Mata right to the top corner.

Same. I thought he was definitely going to score. Then when he hit it I actually thought it was in. fecking unreal save. The replay from behind the goal was brilliant.

Now imprive his cross taking and keep his lithe ability and hes some freakin keeper.

I'm not surprised with that save actually. He has cat like reflections. Once he bulks up he won't be intimidated by crosses.

Commentator's reaction to his save of Mata- "bread and butter"

Why is everyone involved in football such big idiots?

He punched Essiens powerful shot over the bar and the commentator had the cheek to say he made a mess of it

Yeah he was really far over to that side to see around the wall and I was thinking 'if Mata finds the corner it's in'. Fair play to Mata, he found the corner but De Gea somehow got to it. Great play all round.

Yea I thought that as well. Guess he was seeing when Mata started to move and as soon as Mata did Gea went to the right.

In fairness he should've caught that Mata free kick. Sell him.

he save our ass twice from mata free-kick cahill long-range shot, they both look certain to go in.

If we win the league by one point this season this is where we won it. Immense De Gea

He deserves some credit after today considering how much criticism he's had so far. If people are consistent I don't mind that, but you get people who will have forgotten about his save that kept the draw for us (not you amolbhatia, but others).

Some of those saves in the second half would've done his confidence the world of good. It was a little worrying that shot stopping, which is his forte, seemed to be sliding a bit in recent matches and that showed his morale had been hit. Yet being forced into those last ditch saves would've really helped him get his chin up and hopefully that can act as a platform for him to work on dealing with the aerial ball. I'm convinced if he gets himself bulked up a bit and learns to use his elbows when coming for the ball he can become the keeper we all hoped we'd signed.

Best save I've seen in a long while. He had a decent game today and was at fault for none of the goals. Two of them were Evra's fault while the other was Rio. Since they built up steam harassing De Gea, I assume it'll continue despite such things as facts.
