Darts

Start of The Premier League tonight. The standard, averages and checkouts and most of all quality will get better and better between now and the final in a few months time. I will leave it to Jippy prediction wise as never falls too short of the mark. Looking forward to it, Thursday nights just got a whole lot more interesting.
Haha cheers. Not sure I'm that much help. Just downloading last night's matches now- had a load of work shit on and forgot it had started tbh- heard a couple of results.
Top 4 at the end...So tough, but how about:
MVG
Ando
Wright
Chisnall

Can you imagine if Chizzy could step up his finishing like Ando did? Not sure he can, but you never know...Lewis is weirdly awful at the Prem and tbf, RVB usually makes it by hook or by crook. Always hard to bet against Taylor too- even losing, he is generally averaging 104+
Over to you SC!

I assume most of you saw yesterday that the PDC are launching a new tournament, the Champions League of Darts, inaugral event in September and to be shown on the BBC. Obituaries are being written for the BDO!
Seems like overkill in terms of tournaments because I think the players obviously rank the World's as #1 followed by possibly the World Matchplay. Then there are the other long established majors. I like the format as round robins are rare in darts these days (exception obviously the PL). Will be interesting to see the PDC on the BBC, they are 2 bodies I could never see together!

What happens to the BDO now? ITV show some PDC events, so I presume the World Champs will still end up being shown somewhere (Channel 5, Dave?).

Wasn't a massive fan of the BDO Worlds but shame to see it go from the BBC.

I'm assuming the BDO World's will continue and the BBC will still show it, there's been no indication otherwise. But you would think this signals the beginning of the end for it, the gap in standard is so big it will be embarrassing for them to show this then go to the Lakeside 3 months later.

Tonight's matches:

7pm SS1 or on the rivers of streams.

James Wade v Michael Smith

Raymond Van Barneveld v Peter Wright

Adrian Lewis v Dave Chisnall

Gary Anderson v Michael Van Gerwen

James Wade v Phil Taylor.

Hope you get to see it live tonight, keep the leader of the opposition sweet stack up the brownies with Sunday as the ace in the sleeve.

My top 4 at the end maybe:

Taylor
Wade
Anderson.

"The decision to broadcast the new event means the BBC will cease to cover the BDO World Championship".

Ah you see what's happened there is I haven't actually fully read the article I linked to :). Yeah they've been sharing with BT Sport last couple of years so assuming BT will pick up the whole tournament.

:confused:Sounds identical to the Grand Slam of Darts, unless they are just rebranding that. Agree there is a risk of saturation.

Not sure about Wade, despite last week's result, but would be good to see. Missus is out tonight, so got the place to myself for a bit.

It's a bit silly to call it the "Champions League" too.

Would be more interesting if it was some kind of competition for say, all the competition winners, rather than the top 8. What would be really intersting is if that included a handful of the BDO competitions too(though they'd mostly get bashed).

Also, on the wiki for the BDO, it says their worlds will be on the Cartoon Network, heh, bantah, innit.

Probably would switch Wade for Lewis. Taylor looked very good last night. Next week Dublin @ Three Arena.

Maybe- still think Wright can get in the four and we're both writing off RVB who does do well in the Prem, (even if he did feck up yesterday).

I think Wright will make top 4, he's won 2 out of 2 and that's despite not being at his best and using darts he didn't like (last night anyway).

Question is who is next to see the doctor. Gary Anderson week one, Thornton week two, will we have a full lineup for next week in Dublin. It does throw up some thoughts week one was it Lewis v Anderson and no disrespect to Smith but who would Lewis want to meet Anderson or Smith. Just say if a player missed one or in the future missed two weeks in a row does it gain any advantage. I know the old cliché "better to have points on the board", but if you have "games in hand" then maybe you may know whats required. It may not bear any significance but who knows they are the elite in the Premier League and can handle it but I still think it does or will in time raise certain questions when certain players are not there.

Not sure it's an advantage tbh. In commentary they said that of the players who played twice in a night last year, only Chizzy won both. Ando and MVG both won one and lost one- the getting up for a match then waiting around for a next one doesn't work well- hence loads of those tournaments with semis in the afternoon and the final in the evening end up with a dull last match.

Premier League Lineup : Tonight @ The 3 Arena Dublin: SS1 7P.M

Peter Wright v James Wade

Dave Chisnall v Michael Smith

Phil Taylor v Gary Anderson

Michael Van Gerwen v Adrian Lewis

Rober Thornton v Raymond Van Barneveld.

Never fails to deliver with a cracking lineup, Taylor v Anderson and MVG v Lewis two absolute belters.

Good lineup tonight but why isn't one of the matches you mention on the bottom line going on last? Wright v Wade is a perfect starter, not a blockbuster but should be a close match. Thornton is just such a nothing player, turns up about once every 20 Majors and the rest of the time is borderline average. Barney should wipe the floor with him tonight but the last match should be one to build up to, and the 2 you mention are exactly that! I make it 21 World Titles between the 4 of them.....

Assuming they are played in that order of course, otherwise I apologise to the PDC!

Premier League Line-Up Tonight SS1@ 7 P.M

Adrian Lewis v James Wade

Gary Anderson v Raymond Van Barneveld

Michael Van Gerwen v Michael Smith

Phil Taylor v Dave Chisnall

Peter Wright v Robert Thornton.

What's even more remarkable is he knows that he can better it. Those first 5 legs he threw just sublime.
I'm watching it on delay- wow, could so easily have been 134-136. Utterly phenomenal. Loved it when Smith nicked that leg though!

Premier League SS1 @ 7 p.m Exeter is the venue:

Phil Taylor v Adrian Lewis

Dave Chisnall v James Wade

Robert Thornton v Gary Anderson

Peter Wright v Michael Van Gerwen

Michael Smith v Raymond Van Barneveld.

The standard will escalate even higher as relegation is on the horizon in the next few weeks when ten will become eight.

Balls, got our awards do tonight- black tie bollocks.

Does anybody know where I can download tonight's games (or any other night from the prem this year)

I really want to report some sites but need to review the quality first.

I'd be devastated if somewhere was producing high quality re runs free of charge

Find them on YouTube

How many times did Monks flight come out Jesus, must have pissed Thornton off.

I wish that ITV4 look at matches rather then Names, had Whitlock vs White & Smith vs Gurney both could have gone either way but instead they went for Lewis & MVG who played vs players not good enough to beat them in there wildest dreams

Agree with that. Would've been good if you could've chosen which match you watch through the red button.
Wright looking good against Klaasen. Hope he wins the tournament.

Tonight SS1 @ 7.15 P.M

Michael Smith v Gary Anderson

Peter Wright v Adrian Lewis

Raymond Van Barneveld v James Wade

Robert Thornton v Phil Taylor

Dave Chisnall v Michael Van Gerwen.

Wade v Barney was a weird one- Wade now knocking in 105 averages. Shedload of massive finishes.

Premier League Darts tonight @ 7.00 p.m SS1

Gary Anderson v Adrian Lewis

James Wade v Robert Thornton

Michael Van Gerwen v Phil Taylor

Raymond Van Barneveld v Dave Chisnall

Gary Anderson v Peter Wright.

Think the venue is Glasgow tonight. Obviously the stand out tie MVG v Power seeing as they are both throwing mesmeric darts.
Will be interesting and pivotal for Gary Anderson to pick up points but we all know Aidy Lewis ability but which "Jackpot" will show
up? and as for "Snakebite" on his day more than capable.

Tonight Premier League @ 7.00 p.m SS1
