Darts

Felt bad for Lewis. Great performance against Barney and looked fecked by the end. As he said, to be averaging 111 and yet still be 5-0 down underlines how good Taylor is.

To be fair, it was over after two legs when Phil took out his finishes. When you are already knackered through illness and your opponent is playing that well you are stuffed. I heard that in the first four or five legs Lewis only got to throw 12 darts max and lost all of them.

Phil was pretty magnanimous about it. Which he always seems to be when I watch him. Cue Haters.

Good to see Barney close to his best again.

That young Michael Smith looked a real talent. Great win against Chizzy. Webby on a comeback now.

Ronny Huybrechts beats Lewis. Lewis' arm was just all over in the last few legs. Seemed to hit 5 and 1 more than 20.

Anyway, time for Taylor/Nicholson, always a cracker.

Eh Liam is that you? feck knows how Lewis lost but Ronny actually looked a player at the end. Been some great darts today. Barney last leg against O'Shea, that Hankey 170 and King's crucial 141 to break. Cool tournament PDC v BDO.

It is, yes. Don't worry, it'll change back before long.

Disappointed with Taylor's match. Just so effortless.

Don't want to see MVG's form continue at its current level, which is way below best (which he'll need to be at to beat Taylor in the worlds), but I right like Deano. Just hope for a great match above all.

Wade impressed me after the bollocks the other week. Have enjoyed the darts but reckon I'll miss most of it this week..

Would you rather bareback Wade, Taylor or Lewis?

Huybrechts up to 4-1 was excellent, he got complacent. Had 66 and went for Bull, double 8. MVG took the leg and wiped him out with four in a row.

Nevertheless, MVG wasn't great. It's a shame that his form has levelled off somewhat; Taylor will stroll to the world title and it won't be particularly enjoyable.

Nah I dont he will personally. this format isnt to MVG's advantage. Bit like Lewis in some respects. The longer format will see him and others in a better light.

Some cracking matches coming up though. MVG V Lewis in particular.

That's a fecking awful question and I'm not sure why you've asked it. Unless you've made a typo or 'bareback' means something different in darts to normal lingo. Christ, the thought of it.

Full credit to Whitlock there for not turning 180 degrees and throwing his darts in another direction.

What a bellend Ted Hankey is. Thought he might have toned it down a touch after everything, but no.

Crowd didn't help either. Start by booing him which is fair enough, then he starts winning legs and they're singing his name? This crowd have annoyed me all tournament. First the Toure chanting, now this.

Yeah I wanted Whitlock to win and Hankey was annoying. I'm going to miss most of the darts tonight cos I have to go to an industry event:(

Brilliant from Wade but my god he's a grumpy fecker.

Unbelievable performance from Lewis last night. His average was 105 which is normally a great score but that included one leg where he had 10 shots at the double! I think he hit 12 180's in 17 legs.

Just watched it there. Awesome match.

Anderson was better than the final score suggests. Lewis V MVG now. Sort of want Lewis to win for some reason.

Yeah missed it but just looked at the stats. Amazing he lost 10-5 after averaging over 106.

Brilliant to see Wade put in a real performance against Taylor. Yep he lost 16-12, but he had chances and coming back from 9-2 down, he showed he has his bottle back. Am a big fan of Wade and hope he takes heart from that, even if he did ultimately lose.

I've never seen a standard like this, from both players. They drive each other on. It's laughable the ease at which they are throwing 180's. Can you imagine being this good?

That was unbelievable. Losing by seven legs after averaging over 110!

That Barney - Taylor final at the worlds probably edged it for drama but feck highest combined average ever tells you how amazing that was and over such a long format.

Taylor does that so often, he just gets better and better as the match wears on. He took doubles out better than Lewis, that was the difference. Lewis probably only missed 2 checkouts that he should have got and it cost him.

Yeah, Lewis's doubles fell to 38%. Christ if he had kept them around 50% he would probably have averaged about 117-118. Be interesting to see how Taylor plays tonight. Thornton is a gritty opponent and surely even Taylor can't perform to that level again this evening. Saying that...

Taylor won't need to be at that level and he'll probably still win by about 8 legs. I'll watch it but it's a bit of a damp squib after watching that SF.

I wouldn't write off Thornton so quickly. He has beaten Taylor in a major final before. Hope it is a good close game anyway.
