Darts

I just never took to Taylor, comes across a cock. He made a bad start as well last year, just got caught out this time by Smith, fully deserved.

Really like Laursen. Classy player when he has his moments.

Smith aside, Laursen has been my player of the tournament. Ice cool and class. Wright is briliant on top form and had to be to beat him.

Taylor wasn't at his best and it was scrappy albeit with moments of class but Smith's scoring was excellent.

Hats off to Barney too. I really thought he was going to lose that, but he pulled out some great shots when he had too.

All the more interesting with Taylor out...

Yeah big-time so many viable winners. Must have a proper look at the draw and the likely matches as it progresses.

I was chuffed last night as id my last €2 on Smith @37/1

Spawny bastard! Taylor was weirdly off colour and agitated. I don't actually like him but was very tempted to back Caven yesterday.

Smith was just zoned. He couldn't miss. He didn't let himself think about what he was doing or the enormity of it, it was brilliant.

I wouldn't go that far; he was keeping tabs with Taylor with a double percentage of 30. Taylor was 38%. He didn't hit many 180s, but his 140s were very strong. His finishing was just slightly better than Taylor's in the end.

Anderson cruising here. If he keeps his double percentage up he has a chance. Amazing he has slid to 18 in the seedings.

Thought painter was good today. I fancy Part to run Newton, very close.

Painter was solid and very confident-sounding. Shame Part didn't click, I always want him to do well, seems a top bloke.

Am rooting for big ruddy John Henderson in this one- thought he was brilliant when he beat Chizzy.

I'm still waiting for Part to turn up! Very disappointed. I've actually played against Henderson. Well I've thrown a few darts in a fun game against him. He's from a similar area to me. Nice bloke so I always cheer for him.

He seems a good lad, but as sixpence says, his rocking stance is a little ungainly. Webby has a weird grip too- dunno if it's just cause he is a lefty.

EDIT: On Part, he just seems to have lost his scoring- was good on the doubles barring that last leg.

2-2. It's a decent game this. The big guy certainly sweating a bit under those lights.

@Spiersey Did you just have a throw with him in the pub?

Yeah. He was playing a match in a pub I was in. I know he used to play in the pub leagues back home, not sure if he still does (allowed to).

He's looking good at the moment. Get three more!

The thing is with darts it is quite difficult to learn a new throw after you've started playing and throwing a certain way for years. His whole body moves with every shot, which should never be done. Websters throw is weird too, I don't know how he can feel comfortable throwing that way, I'd not feel accurate enough the way he holds it.

I don't think my stance is conventional tbh, but know what you mean about how hard it is to fundamentally change your stance or release. You'd think that as with snooker, keeping your body and head still is key, but it seems to be working for Hendo.

It was class but he might need to get it again in a minute Bad start from the big guy though.

It's a cliche but that really is what separates the top guys from these. Henderson with 3 goes at T20 to win and didn't get one on the board.

Credit to him for battling back though.

Tiebreaker probably fair tbh- great effort from both of them. Might have pause it and go for a cig- this has been a long set!

Shame for Hendo, but he had three match darts. Some great checkouts from Webster in that match.

Webster gets it. Henderson will kick himself at those 3 match darts he had. Webster hung in there and that 180 in the last leg was huge. Took it out brilliantly though.
