Darts

He's got a point Liam. I don't think you'd bleating about it if it was one of the players you liked.

Oh I don't care either way really, it was just interesting when I read the article saying a huge cheating storm was brewing even though he won the world championships. Then I read up on it and it was a 240p choppy piece of footage on youtube that ran for about 12 seconds.

The footage isn't great but that is pretty poor form. Cannot remember even seen anything like it in darts before.

Yeah, it's poor form but it is no different to getting caught behind and being given not out.

Maybe, but we seem to apply different standards to different sports. Footballers routinely appeal for every throw in etc...when they know it isn't theirs, cricketers don't walk, yet in snooker for example, players are very honest, even if it costs them the frame. I guess this instance is so strange because you don't expect the scoring error. When I play darts with mates we don't cheat.

Yeah when I play anything with mates we don't cheat. It's completely different to the pro playing arena though. Wasn't he up by shit loads as well? (I think) So it made no difference? I just don't really see it as 'cheating', like walking, like appealing for a throw, like a whole host of other things in sport.

Is kind of stranger if he is already hammering the guy. Who knows, maybe he felt he had been ripped off in some other game and felt he was due one, but still think it is poor form for any pro. Not getting in a Liam-esque rage about it though.

Yeah, maybe he just thought 'ref called it.. meh I'm up by a feckload so who cares..'

Has MvG gone off the boil a little? He's still beating most people but can't seem to get past Lewis or Taylor

Its not a surprise as he's the least experienced. He had a massive spurt of form and beat everyone. He'll have spurts like that again no doubt, and perhaps become more consistent as he gets older, and learns that not every 180 is worth celebrating like a world championship.

:lol:That really irks you doesn't it.

It has stopped me watching darts. It looks like his head is going to explode every time he hits one!

If you pricked him with a fork there he would burst.

There's passion, then there is what MVG does, which has the potential to cost me televisions

Calm down man and can see you are more a calm Whitlock one fingered salute kind of guy.

Agreed, especially when he is banging in those crazy tonne plus checkouts.

James Wade: World number five banned for four PDC events
World number five James Wade has been banned for the next four Professional Darts Corporation tournaments.
Aldershot-born Wade, 30, received the suspension following a Darts Regulation Authority hearing regarding his behaviour at recent Pro Tour events.
He was found to have "acted in a manner which may reasonably be considered to injure or discredit the DRA or bring the game into disrepute".
Wade is free to return at the German Darts Masters in September.
But he will not be able to participate in the Sydney Masters, a European Tour event in Germany and two Players Championship tournaments in Barnsley.
Wade has won six major televised PDC events, the last being the UK Open in June 2011.

What did he do exactly?

A mate knows someone who does PR for a few darts players. Apparently, he got drawn against MVG in the first round of a floor tournament and flew off the handle, saying that seeded players shouldn't meet so early. Then he stormed off. She reckons the ban is odd because other people have got away with worst.

Its an accumulation of similar offenses apparently.

Poor lad does have mental issues, which you think would cut him a bit of slack. Depends how much of a dick he was I guess.

I have similar issues, and TBH have displayed similar reactions, though obviously at a much, much lower level. Though only when I've had a few and have got something else on my mind too usually.

feck missed that. Taylor battering MVG.

Crikey the Grand Prix now being on can't spark this thread back into life:(

Um this is not exactly a darts forum u know :)

Anyway MvG is on his crazy form again, van Barneveld had absolutely no chance

Shit missed it yesterday, was at an industry bash. Maybe it ends up being Taylor v MVG in the final again for a change.
