Darts

Our flat is quite small and the missus fears for the walls so I cannot put up my board. Shame cos I have a set of darts I really like now for the first time in years.
Back home we used dump everything in the cupboard under the stairs. No lifting!

Buy one of those rubber surrounds, it'l catch all of your stray darts (unless you're really bad)

That would be fine but she still won't trust me. My flat is kind of narrow if that makes sense. Only one place I can see it working. Might try and butter her up. Got one mate who practises in the garden for similar reasons!

That can't be good. What about the wind?!

Made Bruce's night there with that gesture. Also donating the trophy to Sid Waddells widow, and paying for a new one to be made. The guy has no class

Call me a cynic, but I think he does these things deliberately. When doing it, he made sure he was still signing it when the interviewer came back over. Earlier in the tournament, he was about to start an interview, and he goes "Hang on, hang on a sec" and makes a point of turning to give his darts to someone in the crowd. I've seen him do it before as well. If you're going to do some good PR, why not wait until the cameras are on you?

The man can't win then can he?

He has to adjust for that. His missus wears the trousers in that relationship. He has improved markedly over the last few months tbf. Can just imagine him in his hoodie, outside, chucking in the wind and rain.

New format for the 2013 Premier League Darts, 10 players instead of 8 and 12 legs instead of 14. And there's some knockout stage where the last 2 players get kicked out after some rounds. Confirmed participants : Taylor, Lewis, Wade, MVG, Barney, Hamilton, Anderson, Whitlock, Thornton, Newton.

Er the quality of the BDO Darts championship isn't that great one has to say. Martin Adams lol

His foul chunky sovereign rings make me chuckle.

All the best players from the BDO have made the switch. I swear if I took 6 months of practicing I could win the BDO title

You do get newcomers storming the BDO championships more than the PDC. Saw five mins of a match earlier and it was county standard at best. Was only one match mind but not sure I will watch much of it.

Just watching a bit now. Tbf, turns out that shit match I saw a bit of earlier was between no hopers who had not gotten through the first round before in six attempts apiece.

Some of the Dutch kids look good- de Graaf and Dekker can score well and finish.

Martin Adams' rings lol.

Couple of posters in the racing forum I'm a member of were tipping up MVG for the PDC early last year and were on for a five figure payout. They're both strong on Norris for the BDO.

Must admit I don't the guy. I know Dekker and Harms are pretty decent. There's a right weirdo called David on BBC2 right now...

 Those checkout percentages!

Probably like Anderson's tbf! That dart board sovereign ring must have been made to his spec though. Surely no quality jeweller would make it on the off-chance someone has that bad taste that they would snap it up.

Mrs Adams may approve of those sausage fingers.

There is a certain ridiculousness about this Steve Bunting guy, who seems to the favourite or second seed, being known as 'the bullet'. Think speed, power etc...he, er, has it.

What I can say is that Darryl Fitton is massive. It's whatever day he tells you it is.

They won't accept it though, and seem determined to try and compete going forward.

I guess they have to. The game between those young Dutch lads was good, but the overall coverage is so much more amateurish. The guy left 50 on his last dart, for example, and the commentator was saying 'he is coming back for the bull', even though anyone with half a darts brain would know he would he come back for 18, double 16, which he then reeled off.

Stu can you match that bling?

EDIT: Messed up the Adams's rings quote...

I don't wear any jewellery.

Picked up my darts again this week with the intention of rebuilding my game. Long way to go! Didn't even average 50!

Still, managed to win most of my games

Yes the commentators are pretty rubbish, and the level if play isn't as good either, but it's generally not a million miles away. Bunting has averaged 128 in one match before. Fitton has hit a televised (in holland) 9 darter.

Bunting and Griffiths (Pdc) are both signed on for Rochdale Borough this year, along with a couple of good mates of mine. Hope to catch a game or two this season.

Me neither on the jewelry front. If you are ever round my neck of the woods and up for a game am up for that!

It is easy to knock the BDO, but Taylor and Part started there, then Barney, King, MVG etc...Do wonder if some of the older players on that circuit, such as Adams, were scared though. They know the money is better, but so is the standard...
