I am a fan and there is a distinct lack of respect of achievements. Some people seem to forget that he, probably like the rest of the other dart players donate their darts to charities or give them to children in the front row. Another thing, what happened between Taylor and Barnevald was nothing compared to the late 70s and 80s with Jocky Wilson v Lowe or Eric Bristow and the fact they used to drink pints upon pints of beer during the game. Those were the days of real darts.
Wenger doesn't like this.

We have a very good example in Sir Alex.
MVG has been class but Taylor's experience and finishing saw him through. I have no doubt that MVG will be a multiple world champion. Took it well in the end which I think shows his temperament. I don't think losing this will be a massive setback for him.
A lot of players understandably want to keep their darts, like snooker players and their cues.

I am aware of that, but the gesture from Taylor and Priestley those days was brilliant to watch.

So, great minds think alike then. Sir Alex is one of our greatest managers but he is probably the worst loser in the Premier League.

I think he'll take a decent break and play less of the smaller events this year. The premier league is set to be fantastic. MVG will light it up in spurts no doubt.

Am glad it's Phil Taylor and not Adrian Lewis again, can't stand him and his new ugly blonde. Would have been a travesty if he had made it a hat trick of titles hehe. Will be posting lots again when the premier league darts start. I believe the lineup this year should be :
Taylor, Lewis, van Gerwen, Wade. Wild cards should be : Whitlock, van Barneveld, Newton and Anderson/Hamilton.

It's the same old story. When he's the best and winning all the time, people are looking for something wrong with him. When he'll be gone, they'll remember him fondly and miss him.

It's easy to show class when you've won.
He's a disrespectful fat prick. He's absolutely incredible as well though, the best of all time so you've got to respect that but let's be honest here his personality is not very likeable at all.
What are people expecting him to do having just won the title? Prance around MVG giving him the wank sign?
I never said I hate him. A few nice touches moments after winning the title doesn't make him a likeable person. His shameful past away from the oche would suggest that.

In the commentary during the match they said Priestley was made up that SAF sent him a get well soon card? Nice touch from frogie.
Let's not turn this thread into a 'I hate Phil Taylor'. Ok he was classless against Barney but he's made a full apology and regrets his actions. In the end he won the games fair and square and is now the 16 time champion of the world. It's a bit like Man United, we keep winning and have so many haters.
Would still take up a lot of cupboard space in between visits!
Didn't watch any of this bare today, put the final on side by side with MOTD. Great comeback by Taylor and he dumped all over RVP's slap head at the end. Best player ever.

A lad that owns a pub where I'm from (west of Ireland) brought him over for a night back in 2005. Small little pub in a small town, he along with around 20/30 of us spent the whole night drinking from 6pm in the evening right through to 5am the following morning and from what I could gather he is sound as a pound and a great laugh, he wasn't afraid to stick his hand in his pocket either when it came to buying drink. I've had great time for him ever since and I'm delighted he won tonight.
