I am surprised at this. In pre-season Welbeck performed well in the 3-5-2 and I thought LVG would love his workrate and link up on the ball.

Think selling him would be a mistake. I don't think he's the most capable striker in the world, but he's our only main attacker with a lot of pace. It's also nice to keep some local talent in the squad IMO. I don't agree with the 'english tax', but i do think it's nice to actually look at a team sheet and have some sort of idea which country that team is meant to be from.
fair enough, I definitely don't think he'd be able to perform the lone striker role for Arsenal as well as Giroud though, plus I think Olivier pulls off speedos like no other man can, that's very important.
But 9 goals in 25 apps is far from regular.

He did make noises last season about moving on if he couldn't get the games up front

If you can't see the difference in ability then you must be watching different games. Just look at Saturday. Chicharito offers absolutely nothing and this line that give him a chance and he'll score is nonsense. He's missed plenty of sitters that if Danny missed he's be crucified for. Playing with Hernandez is like playing with 10 men and that would be alright if he was a special player, but he's quite average.

I might be a little biased but I think that Danny needs playing time more than anything else. He's got outstanding skills but is lacking in the finishing department. You may be right that he is the one who wants to go.Stop wumming.

What difference in ability? Hernandez has matched Welbeck for assists and outscored him in the time both of have been in the squad. Welbeck is laughably overrated on here.

There's no point in arguing with you on DW. The tag line says it all. He's a better dribbler, his touch is a hundred times better, his link up play, physically he's far more of a threat and the only thing Hernandez has on him is that he's been played as a poacher every single appearance for us. I have no doubt if Welbeck had the same he'd match Hernandez.
It's all starting to point that way and I'd be happy with that.
I think That Hernandez being gone would have been the case but Welbeck seems to be unwilling to accept being 3rd choice which would not be much different from last season. I have no problem with him wanting to leave, IMO he should have asked for a move the moment RVP was bought.
