It's an idea but he might want a permanent move rather than just a loan.

And if he cant get playing time in a team that finished 7th how will he do so if we bring in the names we are all calling for and get back to challenging?

Yes there was. But no, Hernandez has wanted to leave for ages and Welbeck loves the club and could never want to go.
I would hope that there is more to a professional footballers (who want what is best for their career) thought process than that.

What time is the press conference?

He's a local, lifelong fan. I'd rather be in his position at United than playing every week for anyone else.

Well, this is amazingly depressing. I'm going to hold out on it all being bullshit but it doesn't seem likely.

Strange and disappointing if true. He'd get plenty of minutes this year with the 3-4-3 surely...

He probably wants all the minutes. And if true then fair play to him for being willing to take a step down in order to get it. That is if this is all true of course.

Given the coverage it looks like the media has been briefed, but if we are blocking him going to even Everton then I doubt he'll leave.

Not bothered and Louis seems to agree with me that he is a nothing player.

Goodbye Danny.

I like Danny, hard worker, but really, he's not that good. He probably wouldn't be the sort of player we'd be looking to buy if he wasn't already here through the youth academy.

Well that's the problem. They're saying we won't allow him to go to a top 6 team. He's happy to take a step down, but not one as big enough as the club would like.

If we let him go without getting in a quick forward/winger then it's a truly awful decision. He's the only player we have who can peg back the opposition defence with his speed and power. Shite.

Surprised that so many journalists are confirming this story. However, if its the case that Welbeck wants guarantees of first team football or he will leave then I can see how things have ended up as they have.

Welbeck gets criticised for his inconsistency in front of goal, and it is a legitimate criticism, but he probably feels he'd be better if he had more games. Match practice can only come in matches, most strikers struggle after long periods on the bench.

Welbeck probably looks at others e.g. Sturridge and thinks if he had a decent run he'd score goals. If he's expressed this to Van Gaal and Van Gaal has said Rooney and Van Persie are my two...

The lad has ambition. If the likes of Arsenal, Spurs, or Everton are interested, he will be guaranteed first team action at those clubs, which will improve his development. Using Sturridge as an example, before he went to liverpool, the consensus was that he was a poor man Danny Welbeck. Now that he moved he to Liverpool and has gotten plenty of game time, the majority believes he is better than Welbeck. If Welbeck moves to one of these clubs, it will only benefit his career.

I rather have him stay, because he is a better partner to Rooney and mata than Van Persie. Moreover he improves our football aesthetic. However, Van Persie would probably not be drop and as such, Welbeck will likely be feeding of scraps unless one of our strikers are injuried.

If he leaves, I would love watching him under Arsene Wenger at Arsenal. He would fit the sexy football they play their.

The other two maybe but definitely not Arsenal, not anymore than here.

Like I said, would anyone actually want us to buy him if he was at another club? I wouldn't.

Not bothered providing LvG buys a winger - we'll probably be moving towards using one striker so it's not that surprising if we only have two strikers come September.

KingJonno will probably comment on this at some point.

Also, I don't know how money motivated Welbeck is but if we're not allowing him to move to a top 6 team then he should probably consider moving abroad as well. He's done well against some good teams in the CL and has been an important player for England too. Not sure who, but think that might be better for him.

Knowing us we won't even put a buy-back clause, he will score 20 + goals next season and one of Arsenal/Chelsea or even Liverpool will buy him in 1 or 2 years

This doesn't make any sense to me. Local lad, clearly good enough, hard working and offers something our other strikers don't -physical presence or at least he uses it better in my eyes. I'd argue he's also our best forward player, when out of possession, IMO he's very good at pressing the opposition. Klopp and Simeone would absolutely love him in their system. Obviously he is regularly clumsy and doesn't score enough, but his allround play is good enough to complement other players. I think you need exactly players like him to make players like van Persie, Rooney, Mata or Januzaj do their bit. His best attribute is IMO that he isn't bothered by pressure in the final third and is actually good at keeping possession for us there. I just think he has a lot of potential and if he plays more regularly he'll improve further. Would be a massive shame in my eyes and Hernandez, as much as I like him, should definitely sold before him.

He has played over a hundred games for us.

Must be his wish to leave but LVG can't have made much of an effort to talk him into staying. With a two-striker formation and Welbeck as third-choice behind Rooney and an ageing, injury-prone RvP, it must have been possible to convince him that he'd get plenty of chances in his favoured position. So disappointed with this.

Definitely. And the arguement could be made that Danny hasn't had a fair crack of the whip as a striker for us. Sell Hernandez before him, everyday of the week.

Same as, selling Hernandez would make more sense to me.

100% agree.

If he does leave, it would suggest that at least a winger is brought in so van Gaal can play his favoured 4-3-3.
