Not everyone will be like this but I hope he does well at arsenal, for his sake. They're a "proper" club and all that, play good football, and Wenger will bring the best out of him, but its better then if he was just a sub for us forever.

Hopefully he scores hatricks against City, Chelsea and Liverpool, and plays a shocker against us!

If he develops well, no doubt we'll buy him back for 50 million pounds in a few years time once Rooney/RVP/Falcao are geriatric...

Hope he fails. I'm not going to wish him well at our rivals. Arsenal fans certainly wouldn't if it was the opposite.

He's unfortunate to have always had Rooney ahead of him and later RVP, and now Falcao. He'd always be the one sacrificed to the bench or the wing. I hope and believe he'll fecking smash it at Arsenal, best of luck to the lad.

Hopefully he doesn't do a Drogba and becomes a late bloomer, leaving us all with regrets selling him.

Anyways i wish him luck.

I agree. Everyone saying they hope he does really well there are forgetting that that very thing may cost us a CL place. Now people may say if we lose out on CL despite our transfers then we have bigger problems, which ia true but I am not that magnanimous that I would want him to do well at a true rival. Also cannot believe we let him leave for as little as 16 million. That's ridiculously cheap for a striker as good as him and specially seeing that Arsenal were desperate for a striker now that Giroud is injured. The feckers didn't let us buy Vermaelen and then we sold thwm Welbeck so cheap. They sold Vermaelen for 11 million ffs.

With Sanchez and Giroud. He won't be a main man there.

Giroud is out injured and its possible Welbeck will keep him out of the team if he starts well. I think his style is more suited to Arsenal.

It's not so simple as that. He's always had potential and at Arsenal they have a system in place that will get the best out of players like him, but are lacking a striker. He'll start there and almost definitely fulfill his potential. At United, there is just no way he'd fulfill his potential unless we sold both Rooney and RvP (and now Falcao as well). He'd forever be a squad player because of his age right now being in an awkward position compared to Rooney, Falcao and RvP.

You're right. We're so rubbish at selling players. We'll probably sell Hernandez for 5-7M

Welbeck will keep Giroud out of the team anyway, Arsenal needed a harder working player with pace and power like Welbeck. He'll probably improve his finishing too with regular games.

The thing is Rooney, Falcao and RVP don't have age on their side. In 2 seasons we'll be looking for strikers. I guess he's doing whats best for him now, but im certain his time was going to come.

Really hurt by this one. He's going to be fantastic for them.

It's odd, many have been calling for an end to the sentimentalism which crept into decision making towards the end of Fergie's reign. Yet here i am after the sale of Welbeck feeling gutted, shocked and sentimental. Really thought he'd be here all his career. Maybe those types went out with Zanetti, Giggs and co.

Ok, now I feel really bad about this move. :( One of the players I've liked and been proud of a lot. He was one reason I thought our youth system wasn't completely broken after all. Never hit the heights he should have though, somewhat due to the niggling injuries and the presence of Rooney/RvP ahead of him in the pecking order. I will obviously watch a lot of Arsenal games from now for sure. Good luck Welbz, except when you play us.

Not really, Falcao and Rooney are both 28, bang in the middle of their prime. You can expect them to still be top players when they're 31. Think we could definitely get 3 top seasons out of them and a good one after that, by which time Wilson will be turning 23, like Welbeck right now. Its not fair to ruin a player like Welbecks career pretty much and tell him he'll be a starter in 2-3 years, depending on how slowly the others decline. He's turning 24 this year and this was the year where he really needs to start and kick on in his career for his own good. And yes, we'll look for a striker 4 years from now, to compete with Wilson. That's not a huge problem though as it's 4 years from now and you have to replace players eventually.

I'm sad to see Danny go but in truth he hit a wall with us long before Moyes spread his shit ideas at Old Trafford.

He'll fit in at Arsenal, he'll suit their style.
Hope to see him improve his finishing.

I wish him well, just not that well.

I can understand if he wanted to leave, or if the club could not offer him enough minutes to keep him.

But why sell him to Arsenal? It's a great move for him and a great move for them. Not so great for us to help our direct competitors for a place in the Champions League.

Don't think he will ever be a 25 goal scorer but he can get you 15 goals. Hope his game improves as he will get more constant play time upfront.

Has he given an interview or written a goodbye letter to United fans? Going to be surreal seeing him at Arsenal. Won't happen but just imagine he goes there and finds himself playing on the left with Sanchez playing as the frontman. :wenger:

Good move for him. He'll do well though he won't solve Arsenal's problems.

At least I hope he won't. Because, you know, feck Arsenal.

go to a cnut of a club. but the best move for him in fairness. really thought he would be a long term player here, i dont think he had the patience to wait for his chance.

Also watch as all the arsenal fans suddenly rate him.

I don't think I'll ever get used to seeing him play for Arsenal. I think he needed to leave to be honest, and I'll never wish anything bad upon him. He just wasn't quite good enough to be first choice here, sadly.

You just know he's going to score against us and not fall over like Bambi in the process.

we sold Welbeck to bring Falcao. Its similar of selling Nicky Butt to bring in Roy Keane.
