Great all around play today. Love the lad.

Should have smashed that last-min chance in, but the right decision-making will be something he'll keep on developing.

He does love that little drag back. Today wasn't the first time he's tried to do it and fallen over and cost himself the chance.

Either way, he's easily first choice along with Rooney now. He offers so much more to the team than the static Berbatov and offside Hernandez.

I cant fault him today. Perhaps he ran out of steam a tad for that chance at the end.

We all know he works really hard. But Souness after saying he was watching him closely and said he never stopped running

Came up with the crucial goal but should have scored a few more. Needless trick right at the end but he'l learn. Young and learning.

He's absolutely brilliant, I wouldn't say he's better than Hernandez just yet though - I think Hernandez should only be judged with a Fabregas type player behind him. For the team and players we have though, Welbeck is easily the better choice in my opinion.

Tottenham 1-0
Arsenal 1-0
Basel 1-0
Basel 2-0
Norwich 2-0
Fulham 1-0
Man City 2-0
Bolton 2-0
Arsenal 2-1

This season Danny Welbeck will mostly be scoring goals that count.

I absolutely adore him. Dunno what he was thinking at the end though but he was excellent today(again), ran Arsenal ragged.

Danny's work rate is phenomenal. Once he gets a bit of composure that will come with playing a lot of games, he'll be an absolute beast of a forward.

Fantastic performance tonight. His pace caused the usual problems for the opposition. Unlucky not to get a hattrick.

I dont want to hijack this WELBECK thread but, what? Ruud did it with Oshea and Richardson behind him

That's not really true is it?

In 2005/06 we ended up using Oshea and Giggs/Richardson for quite a number of games and Ruud was still scoring for fun. Even if you think a few seasons back we had good young players like Rooney and Ronaldo who were inconsistant and players like Kleberson, Djemba Djemba, Miller... all featuring and he was still brilliant.

Going back, my point is about Hernandez only being judged with a Fabregas type of player is irrelavant as other players have done better without better players around them

He never stopped running tonight. Don't think he would have lasted the 90 if we weren't forced to waste a change on Jones. He must have been absolutely knackered when he got that late chance.

He was great today, apart from that bit at the end where he should have scored again.

He suits our play so well, once he fully develops he could be absolutely amazing.

Fair enough, Ruud is Ruud and Hernandez is Hernandez though. All I'm saying is for me it's too early to make such a statement that Welbeck is the better player of the two. It takes years to really gauge enough for that kind of statement. Who would I rather in the current team? Welbeck every day, but let's not get carried away and totally write Hernandez off here.

Fair play mate, personally i dont think anyone can write Hernandez off after last seasons performances and as United fans we should just thank god we have these two players who are different but very effective... and young!

I'd still swap him Carroll myself.

Makes you wonder what we could get for Danny...

Really happy with how he's progressing as a whole. Sometimes think he needs to go for goal a bit earlier and with more conviction rather than mucking around with it though.

For me, there is something uniquely exciting about watching Welbeck come through.

I think it's because in my lifetime there hasn't been a United striker make it from the youth team (from Manchester as well) and to see him score goals that matter is exhilarating.

Yep, and you do wonder if that'll forever be a part of his game. At the moment he's looking more Kanu than Henry...I love 'em though.

I think Fergie compared him to Kanu when he was still only 16 or 17.

Yes, it's great to see a local lad come up through the ranks, break into the first team, score goals and make a great impact.

I admit, I've questioned in the past whether Welbeck could make it here but I'm very happy to say he's proving me wrong this season. The loan did him the world of good, and thank god for it.

He's having a very good season, has a good all round game and what is really exciting is imagining how good he will be with a couple of full senior seasons at United under his belt.

Buzzing to see Welbz doing well, hopefully Morrison and the rest are paying attention.

Every time I see that pic, I really want Larnell Cole to make it.

Me too, it would make that pic so cool. And then we can f@p to that GIF of him doing that trick on Scholesy too, would be great to see Larnell make it in spite of his size.

Once he loses that likeness to Bambi on ice, he's going to be one of the most dangerous strikers around.

The thing is he thrives on the big occasion. Proper United player.

He ran Arsenal absolutely ragged today. Movement, good link-up play and also found a finish at last.

He's the perfect player for a game against Arsenal. Their defence hates having to play against pacey, physical players. Drogba is an example of someone who has ripped them apart time and time again. Obviously, Welbeck isn't at that level, but he's still deadly at times.

Good today, scored a really important goal and made several good runs behind the defense. Was a bit wasteful though, but thats less of a problem than if he didnt get into positions.

Hes turning into one of my favorite players at United. Always works hard and when his name is on the teamsheet you just know we will produce some good attacking football.

How can you not love this guy?!

He's the prototypical striker, he can do everything. And he's got Chicharito-like levels of joy coming out of him at all times, he's always happy and excited to play, just like a local boy should be!

Injury permitting, this guy will be an absolute star.
