great confidence booster for him tonight. was superb and our best outfield player,

Aye

I was a sceptic but now I am a believer. If he can add consistent goals to his game then he will be a top drawer player.

This is the type of stage that players gain higher reputations. Danny has done his no harm at all here. He's going to be some player, that's not in doubt.

Thing is, he was no better tonight than he has been several times this season.
Still, glad to see more people finally giving him the credit he deserves

Gonna be a big star this guy, love him

The best thing about Danny is he has never looked out of place in the big games. He does it for England and is doing it for United.

The problem is more in the smaller games where he's expected to be a game changer against teams that line up outside the box. He'll develop him game to overcome this though.

Hard to see how anyone can't rate his impact on the team.

He'll be an absolute star once he irons out the small kinks.

Nah. He's had some good games this season but tonight he was fantastic, one of the best games I've seen from him.

I think the goal really did him wonders, made him feel confident that he belongs at this level in this kind of match. Worked his arse off and was good in the build up. Most impressed in trying to claim the lose balls and tackles.

Glad to see him have a game like that - give my dad and my best mate some humble pie when I see them.

Never stopped running, calm in possession and great goal.

fyi not a chance a chancer like sturridge puts in a performance like that at the bernabeu.

That's because Sturridge is a completely different type of player. One of Welbeck's strong parts to his game is that he's a ridiculously hard worker and that helped tonight. Sturridge is different but that doesn't automatically make him inferior.

Him and De Gea, two players there that in a few years time we're going to be able to turn around smugly to our non-United fan mates/family and go "so, about them being shit?"

We should loan him out, so he can get some experience and come back and do a job for us when and where it matters.

Guy in my office said "All that time spent on Welbeck has paid off" and "De Gae had a lucky game."

Yeah we should loan him out to the likes of Norwich so he can practice scoring

Up yours you idiots

Welbeck is a big game player and deserves the game time on the biggest stage. He is a super player who opens up so much space for us with his pace and ability to hold onto the ball

Just reading it, black on white, and knowing that it was seriously suggested just by several just a few days back literally made me laugh out loud!

Had an absolutely fecking amazing game tonight. His workrate, presence and composure were top notch. MoTM for me as well. He's going to be a monster of a player very soon.
Few more goals and he'll start getting the confidence he needs.

He was the balls tonight. Even my dad, who gets eternally frustrated with him (because he's an impatient old cnut) stood up and applauded when he got subbed. And he was on the sofa at home.

I did that too, felt a bit weird after.

If only that effort which the keeper managed to deflect wide had gone in... brilliant shift he put in tonight; the best I've seen from him considering the occasion. Wasn't phased at all and gave Madrid's defence a real tough time.
