Danny Rose | Rose: "I will play up North before I retire"

Fair point. I'd forgot about him. No way he's in awe of our squad though. That's utter nonsense.

Our squad is shitter than Spurs and we are going through a terrible period in our history and still winning more than Spurs, while offering our best players, double or triple what they get at Spurs.

You don't keep players as good as Rose on peanuts, whilst winning feck all year after year.

No way he'd go to city - they've just signed Mendy at LB. Really wouldn't mind him at United, think he'd be genuinely good.

By the sounds of it the north comment was basically him saying he's not going to be at Spurs all his career and wants to be closer to family (in Leeds) later in his career (the guy on Talksport just read the quotes). It's certainly not him saying he's got an deal with Man United in place or anything.

I'm not sure what that has to do with him being in 'awe' of our squad. Even if you think we're better than Spurs do you really think their players are in awe of our squad?

So that's two key players at Spurs now who have claimed that the club lack ambition. One of them players has already left...

Play in the north? Spurs arent a big club but he is better off there then at the wall

If it is Danny Rose it reads more like him wanting to play for Man City. There's no way he's in awe at the quality of our squad.
No chance he's off to City, they've already spent a fortune on fullbacks. It's between us or Liverpool, and I can definitely see us going in for him as we really need a left back.

@GlastonSpur remember that time I told you that Spurs players will look at Lingard's £100k and start getting itchy feet and you were like "nah mate, they love the club and don't want money and love poch and believe in building something together and money isn't an issue COYS". Yeah good times, man.

Look where Rose was when he was the same age Shaw is now. He had hardly played any PL football and went out on loan to Sunderland.
Shaw still has time to develop if he can get over his injuries, he is a far superior player compared to a 22 year old Rose.

That means nothing though. Mbappe is probably superior to Ronaldo at 18, yet I'd be extremely surprised to see him become half the player. This isn't a year or two for Shaw. He's been here nearly half a decade and has regressed, if anything. Like I said, I hope he turns it around, but I don't see it. Regardless, this season is probably his last chance.\

We need to stop feeling sorry for these players and start expecting them to perform. We are a global franchise that needs to be competing at the top end, not a babysitting service.

I don't see it as Rose saying he wants to go, just that Spurs need to get their wage structure sorted as it is a joke. If they don't get it sorted - and soon - there'll be more leaving than just Walker.

£60k/week in wages is a joke considering he was seen as the best LB in the week.

I hope Shaw comes back fit and confident, as Shaw is the superior player.

I agree he's got a higher ceiling but Jose doesn't look interested in developing him; Pocchettino transformed Rose and Walker from mediocre to the best fullbacks in the league, so I'd see them pushing for a swap including Shaw as part of any deal. I think Pocchettino would make him the best in the league within 2 seasons.

Rose gets his move, Mourinho gets an accomplished player he doesn't have to develop, Shaw is reunited with the biggest advocate of British youth development in he league and Pocchettino gets another chance to cultivate Shaw's undeniable talent. Everyone's a winner in such a deal.

I can see Rose talking about a future move back home after his Spurs adventure is over rather than it being a declaration of his intentions this summer

 He won't listen. Next summer it's going to be Harry Kane or Dele Alli requesting a transfer and he'll still turn a blind eye to it.

He wouldn't go for less then 50 million? Is he really worth that type of money?

I'd worry about his knee, and see Bertrand as a safer, equally capable option, but Rose would be a worthwhile investment and upgrade on Blind and Darmian.

Wasn't we linked with him in he papers two days ago with Bale. He'll be our left wing back good business by our team if we get this done. Best LB in the league hands down.

What's he on at Spurs? Google says 30k a week. That sure cannot be true?

The only reason he has regressed is because of injuries which includes a year out with a broken leg. I only said that if he can get over his injury problems he still has all the time to develop. How long he's been here doesn't matter a bit or do you want us to get rid of a player like Gomes because he haven't developed into first team player yet despite being here for over a decade.

He'd obviously be a clear upgrade at LB and would welcome him but I'd personally prefer Kieran Tierey from Celtic. Would come at less than half the price too assuming Rose easily sells for £40M+ being English and naturally overpriced and all.

Don't think United get him at this stage of the transfer window but wouldn't mind being proven wrong. The left side is very weak and getting someone like Rose would help a lot in stabilizing the position while offering an actual attacking threat. Again, doubt it happens now but wouldn't mind either.

It's a kick in the teeth for Pochettino who took him from average at best to one of the best in the position

Where exactly does he say he'll play in the North?

I mean what source btw, not where in the North

It would be the same as Walker. He'd not be a star and pretend that he didn't once suggest there are no next to players in the game that could replace him and that's Ben Davies is more than good enough. That said, I doubt Rose is leaving.

Often when I google Spurs' salaries I can not believe my eyes, it's why so many spurs fans are going to be heartbroken when they're players leave for double the pay.

With the investment in the new stadium the finacial outlay will be restricted further meaning Alli, Kane and Toby will most definitely leave within the next 12 months.
