Danny Rose | Rose: "I will play up North before I retire"

I liked him from what I saw in the last 2 seasons. I don't know how good he was before 15/16 but if he was shit he surely has developed himself pretty greatly.

He's very good, and he'd definitely be my first choice LB were we to sign one. I'd imagine him going for the same price - if not more - than Walker considering how close we are to the start of the season. Walker had been pushing for a move for a fair few months too...

He'd probably cost more. Spurs didn't have to sign anyone to replace Walker, they would for Rose.

He was the best LB in the league last season and would be an huge improvement in one of our weakest positions but I can't see Spurs letting go of both their first choice full back's in the same summer.

How are his injury issues? I seem to remember him being out for a sizeable part of last season.

He hasn't been for the last few years.

When both players were fit Shaw was easily better and forced Rose to the England bench.
Hence why I said I hope Shaw comes back fit and confident, as he has more talent than Rose. And he's 6 years younger which is significant.

Apparently, Conte wants him badly, if that is the case they will get him I presume, considering Lukaku debacle. Hopefully, we do our best to drive the price up at least!

He is not easily better at all. Rose is by far the better player right now.

In 2014, sure, which is when 4 of Luke Shaw's 7 caps occured. Since then, Rose has grown into the best LB in the league whilst Luke Shaw has had 3 staggered seasons where he has only managed to play 29 out of 114 PL matches.

I'm a huge fan of Shaw and do have plenty of time for him, but this idea that he is better than Rose who has basically been the best LB for at least 2 seasons in the league is pretty absurd.

'Right now' as Shaw is injured... of course :wenger:

Go read exactly what I said.

When both players were fit, Shaw was in the Premier League Team Of The Year and he forced Rose onto the England bench. All while being 6 years younger.

When both are fit Rose is still a much better player. Shaw may become better but he is nowhere near Rose's level now.

Can anyone read?

Yes he's had an injury plagued few years but the talent/potential is still there and age is on his side.

Rose stepped up to be a top player in the last 2 years, when he was 24.

Much better? The England coaches didn't think so.

Eh.. that's a poor attempt at deflection. Rose is a much better player than Shaw and he has proved it. Shaw may develop into a great player but he is a long way off at the moment.

Yes, we can all read you making a bit of a fool of yourself. Growth isn't linear, being younger doesn't automatically mean Shaw will go on to become a better player, nor does Rose being older mean he won't continue to develop. Shaw has had serious injury troubles 2 seasons running, under a manager who has publicly shown a lack of faith within him. The idea that Shaw will return and replicate his form from Southampton - 4 seasons ago - is hugely optimistic.

It's 5 years in age difference, btw.

For four games three years ago. Stop, man.

Comparing the two players now, Rose is comfortably the better player, I don't see how anyone could dispute that.
Shaw has plenty of potential, but he has a long way to go to realise it, he has some significant flaws in his game.

Rose is the better player right now but when he was the same age Shaw is now he only had 16 PL appearances to his name and went out on loan to Sunderland so Shaw still has all the time in the world to develop into a superior player.

Too many people see through United-tinted glasses, especially on this subject.

Rose is the better tactically, technically and mentally. He's finally matured as a footballer and has learned under Poch for a couple years without injury. Shaw has the raw tools, but has lost a lot of development time due to injury. Valencia has arguably become a better RB and more influential the past couple of years. One has to think Shaw would have improved as well if fit and learning from LVG and Jose.

Rose will not leave...not sure why this is even a topic.

Very little evidence he will though.

Very hard to find "evidence" when talking about the future whatever the topic is.
If Shaw can get over his injuries I think he has all the tools to develop into a far better player than Rose is right now. That doesn't mean I don't rate Rose right now. I think he is the best left back in the league but looking at a 22 year old Rose and comparing him to Shaw right now it's quite clear which player is the bigger talent.

Don't even rate Shaw that much but the guy was in the PFA team of the year at 18.

I really don't get the arrogance with the Spurs fans. Everyone else players sucks and your players are the best things since sliced bread. Unless they leave of course.

I'm just expressing an opinion that many other people share. It's not arrogance, it's just my opinion. If you think Shaw is better than Rose then fair enough. I don't.
