Has he trained with Barca since he joined?
He has played 15 games so I'd assume he has trained at some point.Has he trained with Barca since he joined?
Fair play. I havnt seen Barca all season. He has played 15 games so I'd assume he has trained at some point.
They could only provide the necessary guarantees in the summer for half a season and couldn't register him for the full season. So Barca had half a year to get the money and failed to do so.So how could he play before, but not now?
Don't matter. The issue here is one of their past levers didn't pay out in the end, so la liga no longer trusts them unless they see the money firstI think their argument is that they did indeed send the documents before the 31st Dec deadline.
He will sit out the game and afterwards they will find a way to register him.Barcelona's next game is against Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Super Cup. Most Spanish journalists are reporting that Bilbao is one of the clubs that are actively reminding the Spanish Federation and La Liga that there's no existing legal avenue in which Olmo can be registered now the deadline has passed.
Do you know this for a fact or are you speculating? He will sit out the game and afterwards they will find a way to register him.
Obviously I don’t know. But it is by far the most logical development, don’t you think? I simply cannot see how La Liga lets Barca lose a €60m asset.Do you know this for a fact or are you speculating?
They got denied again today.Obviously I don’t know. But it is by far the most logical development, don’t you think? I simply cannot see how La Liga lets Barca lose a €60m asset.
La Liga will find a way to bend over backwards for Barca, they always do.
Remember a few years ago they were allowed to sign a player outside the transfer window due to injury but then didn't allow team that Barca signed a player from to sign a player themselves to absorb the loss.
Braithwaite I think? Shocking league.
Absolutely. You are spot on. They were allowed to unilaterally sign Martin Braithwaite from Leganes outside of the transfer window by meeting his release clause of 15m. At the time Leganes was in the relegation zone and Braithwaite had scored a third of all their leagues goals. They had successfully lobbied to make the signing because Ousmane Dembele had suffered an injury, keeping him out for six months. Leganes were not allowed to sign a replacement.La Liga will find a way to bend over backwards for Barca, they always do.

Not really sure this is true given Barca has struggled more than anyone else to register players for 2-3 years now.La Liga will find a way to bend over backwards for Barca, they always do.

Barca push the rules more than any club, that's why they struggle more. Not really sure this is true given Barca has struggled more than anyone else to register players for 2-3 years now.
May as well lock the thread, his agent said they are staying.
Yeah this is just wrong. La Liga never had the domestic consumer base of the PL, it's cultural, not in any way down to the illusion of competition(guess how many different champions the PL has had in the last 7 years vs different number of La Liga champions.). The PL isn't and hasn't been a 2/3 clubs league over the past 25 years entirely thanks to a Russian oligarch and a Gulf State. And La Liga sells its international tv rights quite well. The main difference between the two has been marketing, domestic base, culture and historical record - there have been 9 different spanish champions in history. By comparison, england has seen 10 different champions between 1960 and 1972(Spain had 4 over that period).Absolutely. You are spot on. One of the most absurd, corrupt, and unfair situations in La Liga history. A total abuse of a smaller club in favour of one of La Liga’s few cash cows. What La Liga have always failed to understand, is that so unevenly and unfairly supporting Real and Barca, at the expense of the rest of the league, isn’t protecting their interests, it’s destroying them. They seem to think that the key to La Liga’s success is by keeping the two giants as strong as possible. They see victory in Europe as a victory for the Spanish league, but in doing so completely misunderstand the very basics of building a strong brand and increasing their collective appeal.
The undoubted beneficiaries are Barca and Real, but even they fail to understand the uneven playing field and helping hands, actually hinders their goals in the long term, rather than helps them. That’s why both are so desperate to leave and form the Super League, because without complete structural reform - which would mean a short term dip in TV money shares - La Liga will never grow its appeal globally. Especially in the post Messi and Ronaldo era. Those two were life jackets that kept the league afloat, when in reality the ship has been sinking for ages. Real are too arrogant and self entitled to take a longer term collective view, and Barca are both those things, as well as broke.
The entire strength of the PL has been in fostering competition and strength throughout. The comparatively even distribution of TV rights in the PL has been the key to its success and domination of global audiences. La Liga’s continue to dilute their product by playing show piece games in SA, and very soon likely to be league games in the US. I just hope the PL stay strong and don’t succumb to those temptations, because it would be very short sighted.
La Liga is the clubs. Several of which have already let Tebas know their displeasure with this whole thing...Back on topic, it’s hilarious to see they can’t register Olmo, but in your heart of hearts it feels premature to celebrate, because you just know Barcelona and La Liga will find a path to corrupt their way to his registration. And in the extremely unlikely event that doesn’t happen, the player will just sit out the season in the stands and not sign for someone else on a free. If he does, he knows Barca will find a way to crucify and vilify him to the point that his reputation is destroyed in Spain. They have a long illustrious history of turning on their own, of treating people like they are garbage and expecting unending loyalty in return.
I fully expect Olmo to line up, next to De Jong, in La Liga’s man of vigour and esteem XI, before long.
