Dan "The Gardener" Ashworth Has Left | Venit, vidit, non vicit

This sounds too fast to be about performance.

Sounds way more like he disagreed once too often with Ratcliffe or Brailsford. I hope not, because I'm not seeing much future in Ratcliffe declaring himself supreme leader.

Have we checked for lead pipes at Carrington. It's the only explanation I can figure for why people's brains dribble out their ears when they interact with this club.

Cant believe it, what on earth?? This club man.... moving mad as always

Because the sample size of his performance isn't long enough to make a sound decision.
Which suggests something else has happened, ie, he's not happy or has done something that affects his ability to work. In which case the club has done the right thing.

If we aren’t sacking mangers, it’s ticket prices, if it’s not ticket prices it’s players acting up on social media, if it’s not that it’s sacking the DOF that we waited months for and on top of that we’re losing 2 games in 4 days nowadays, when can things just be normal again.

Maybe they aren't convinced by his recommendations for the summer, coupled with players he's already recommended.. you just don't know, but recruitment has to be pretty much perfect now and it was basically his entire role right?
There were murmurings at Newcastle that his influence waned over time, and i think we all just ignored at the time because we were excited
Possibly, maybe they thought he handled the ETH situation badly too - he may have been the only one that wanted to keep him but caved in the end.

I'm assuming this would still be a thing at a high level but I suppose there is also a probationary period factor to consider and that could be key to the timing?

Everyone loosing their minds without knowing what has unfolded. Decisions like this aren't taken lightly and them calling it mutual is because something happened internally and they have agreed to keep it civil and part ways without it becoming a thing.

Legitimately thought this was going to be a cheap clickbait joke thread of someone seeing him leaving the stadium yesterday to capitalise on the hysteria of losing yesterday.

So what the feck. Hope there’s a really good non-football related reason for this otherwise it looks awful.

Someone is not happy with the recruiting
I don't think it's that. Recruitment atleast takes a year or two to play out. This feels like butthurt egos more than anything.

Let's wait for the rumor mill to start. I'm sure there will be leaks from both camps.

My theory is Jim is old and wants the fast track to putting the club back at the top.

My worry is whether this means everyone at the club is on a lifeline.

Imagine if we finish roughly where we are. Amorim out next one in?

Could be a Boehly type situation.

Why does it mean that? Perhaps he's really unhappy about the ownership meddling in his work.

Whatever the case, it doesn't reflect well on the club. They paid 2-3m for him and he's gone after 5 months. Did they do their proper research on him or what? How can the relationship sour after 5 months?

It’s definitely become a thing

If he's not right, why the feck continue with it?

I wouldn't put it past Ratcliffe just being a spoilt billionaire hot head.

He's already thrown a hissy fit at not being able to sign a player from himself and labelled our entire squad as up for sale.

He once closed his own dactory down just to get out of payung his workers fairly.

He's not exactly got form for being Mr Rational.

I fear you are right.

Be as well rebranding ourselves Harchester United with the amount of drama at this club. Surely they must have a new person lined up.

The circus act continues.

De Ligt and Zirkzee really got two important people the boot with their complete lack of squad improvement.

It can’t be about recruitment. Honestly our recruitment this summer doesn’t even look that bad anyway minus possibly Zirkzee.

Wasn't Ashworth one of the people pushing for Ten Hag to be kept? I read that Ratcliffe disagreed with that. Now that the season is falling apart due to our poor start under Ten Hag, Ratcliffe has decided to boot Ashworth. He probably stuck his neck out for Ten Hag and it didn't work, factor in the almost £20m spent to sack him.
