With all the reports about a possible 20M transfer it seems people think 14M is a fair price, while it's way too high.
Really bad moment for us to buy him I think as he probably would've cost half of that without a WC this year.

Will give us cover in a few positions though and gives the club the possibility to sell some underperforming players with higher wages (I guess).
He'll be the more versatile replacement of Cleverley.

Basically, Like what Cruyff said, he is very slow both phsyically and technically. This will be REALLY exposed in the premier league/

Very technically and tactically proficient player who is being laughed at by opposition fans? Suits me.

These comparisons with Cleverley and Fellaini from some of you here are also pretty funny. Clueless stuff. He's a good player. Not the world class Vidal or destroyer we wanted but he will fit in very nicely and do a job in Van Gaal's system. He'll improve us defensively and help out build-up play. Van Gaal thinks Dutch players are the best tactically, and he values that quality very highly. Not surprised he wants Blind.

Maybe he'll be like a Tom Cleverley/John O' Shea super hybrid. Not amazing but less crap than enough players in enough positions to justify his place in the squad.

There was a follow up tweet to the one you posted..you are posting one half of the story
Oh I didn't see it. I don't think he will be a bad signing anyway, just disappointing as I felt like we could've done better. If van Gaal wants him then it's fine with me though.

So Blind junior it is.

I just hope that Carvalho briefing wasn't just for shits and giggles and Woody shall step up.

So, it's Carrick, Herrera, blind and fletcher. Would like one class one in but I guess it's an improvement.

Another slightly underwhelming signing if these reports are true. Good back up for CM/LB but that's it. Still doesn't address the lack of quality in the central positions.

Finally reading some sense. Yes, exactly. He's a versatile, tactical option for a team that is woefully short of tactical heads in the middle of the park. Of course, he's not the signing of our dreams but he's the stand-in for a bigger signing in my opinion.Probably Strootman in Jan.

Yeah it's been a underwhelming summer with only Di Maria, Shaw and Herrera. Three players a lot of the caf would have taken at the start of the summer.

At the end of the day, Blind is a decent signing. I am misconstrued, I am just saying that if Blind is the only midfielder coming in-it is very underwhelming as we need a world class midfielder.

I don't get this. United have spent an obscene amount of money in the transfer window. They are replacing players everyone here wanted out and getting players who will fit perfectly. Now, apparently it seems United have bought Blind. Everyone wants/wanted Vidal but it's evident there are worries about his knee and also Juve want silly money. For whatever reason LvG remains unconvinced about Carvalho. He knows and obviously trusts Blind so prefers him. Blind can also cover 3 positions AND is cheaper.

He can do a job. He knows LvG and his systems and has played it during the world cup. He is reasonably priced considering the madness of this summer and was also part of a team who came 3rd in the world cup. For all we know United could still buy more players, there are many reasons to think they will. But even if Blind is the last then how can it be a bad transfer window when United have addressed all their problems. Maybe they haven't got a Hummels or Benatia in defence or Vidal in midfield, but they have got adequate cover that are upgrades on players almost everyone here has been slating for fecking ages. They are also getting rid of many of those players we have all slated.

Not everything can or could have been fixed in one window. In my honest opinion this is a success, especially compared to the shambles of last year. It's ridiculous, naive and to be honest, extremely fecking greedy to have expected we would have done this well, let alone have got Hummels and Vidal on top. It is all well on its way to being fixed and I bet some more improvements will happen again in January and then yet again next Summer. What part of a "project" as LvG is always going on about, do some people here not get?

Without question this has been the best transfer window I have ever known. Absolutely, nailed on, without question, massive success. I for one am so excited about it all. I think some people are impossible to please and just like to bitch and whine all the time.

I just had another thought. Maybe LvG has bought Blind because, no he may not have been his first choice. It's obvious Vidal was. But maybe Vidal was actually SECOND CHOICE? Because his first choice (as widely reported) Strootman is injured? This way he gets Blind as cover for his first choice that he will go for in January/next summer? Also the same could be said for Vidal. He will try again in January or next summer after he has assessed his knee and may be more available? This could easily be a condition added if United agree to send Chicharito to Juve. Smart bloke that LvG. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense.

I've taken to thinking of Di Maria as a midfielder now as it adds a nice gloss to the list.

Di Maria, Herrera, Carrick, Blind and Fletcher is definitely better than last year's Carrick, Cleverley, Fellaini and Fletcher combo.
