Daley Blind - Deal Confirmed

More and more it looks like artificially created saga. One interview when player just answering the question about what he would do if Louie gave him contract in United and the press already portray it as a legit deal.

Daley Blind actually played as central defender too throughout his youth days at Ajax. Rojo has more pace than Blind does, that's why I think Rojo is better suited on the flank than Blind.

Was speaking to my mate who is an avid Ajax fan, Blind is a CM/holding midfielder, he's massively biased but reckoned he would do well for us. If he was signed he would fully expect him to play CM not CB or LB. Although he can play there, this isn't his position.

I personally think we'll end up signing Blind, slightly unsure why we haven't already, but potentially he is our fall back option.

Yeah, that's true. DM is his best position, at least at Ajax. He lacks physique for CB, and pace for LB.

I don't think we'll sign him though.

If we don't sign Vidal then I think we will get Blind to play DM. Him and fletcher would rotate.

I don't expect him to be brought in and play CB.

He is obviously plan B for DM, like Rojo was for LCB, otherwise I imagine this would have been done a while ago, as transfer go this sounds like an easy one one to complete.

It's the simplest. £12-15m and ajax would accept. Can't be that hard. If van Gaal wants him, and Woodward can't close that deal, then there's something wrong with him.

If you put him in a 2 with Herrera and Mata as a #10 we'd be in trouble in the PL, hardly any real pace there and no physicality. If Blind is going to play as a #6 he'd have to sit behind a duo of Herrera and Fletcher IMO.

The thing is if I remember correctly Blind's comments did not even mention United, they were more general in nature. But perhaps I am confusing it with another players comments.

I think he's good not amazing but one thing concerns me. The fact that he himself thinks the physicality of the PL might not suit him/his game. Not really sure what to make of it but it irks me.

Please sign this man to improve us tactically and technically at the back either as a screen in front of the defense or as the left-sided player of the back three. If we're going to rely on this system, we really need players who know how to react at each stage of the game. our defenders were woeful against Liverpool and Valencia and then we get this performance today... We're crying out for a player like Blind.

According to ESPN, his agent was at the game

Can't believe fans would accept such a low level signing. We need to start looking at the top shelf because that's where we belong.

What makes you think we can attract top shelf players right in the position we are in?

For what it's worth I agree with you, Daley Blind would be a meh signing but right now the likes of Hummels and Benatia aren't gong to consider us.

City and Chelsea managed to do so when they were in a much worse position, why can't we? We can bridge the gap with money, we do have the means to do so. If we don't, why are we signing all these big deals for?

Blind isn't a mediocre player. He's a good player who fits the description of what we need. We also need to sign Vidal because Fletcher has demonstrated he cannot do the job alongside Herrera vs stiff opposition.

You don't "belong" anywhere in football. If you're good enough to be top, they you're good enough to be top. You've got no divine right to be top.

He's the definition of average tbh. Could do a job but shouldnt be a starter.

Putting him in the midfield with Herrera wont solve anything, if we moved to a midfield 3 and play him behind a pairing of Herrera and Vidal then it might work, but with him in a two we'll have the same issues we've had for ages with physical, mobile pressing teams.

Our man is playing in midfield against AZ, on Sky now.
